How can I convert .ARF WebEx presentaion to video (flv, mp4, avi, wmv)? I don't want to use WebEx ARF Player. I would like to watch the video on my iPhone, iPod, portable DVD player,...

I have Webex recorded meetings as .arf videos. I need to convert them to more playable formats like .avi or .wmv or .mpeg. I googled a lot about this, but couldn't find out conclusive answers. Is it possible to do it in Linux, using mencoder or ffmpeg ? Thanks in advance.

ARF files are WebEx recordings downloaded by the user (WebEx recordings of an online meeting downloaded from WebEx, recorded using Network-Based Recording). They contain the video data, a table of contents, an attendee list, and other information on separate panels.

ARF recordings can be converted to Windows Media (.WMV) or Flash (.SWF) files using the free WebEx ARF Player (Windows, Mac OS)

Thank you for the responses. I've tried File -> Convert in WebEx ARF Player, but the options for WMV and SWF are greyed out. Any suggestions?

I tried Network Recording Player 2.3.1 for Windows and if I click File -> Convert, I do can start converting. I'm not really satisfied by the lack of any settings and that the player can convert to WMV and SWF only. Besides the converter is very very slow. But I haven't seen any alternatives.

Unfortunately I haven't seen any converters for Linux. You may try to use a Windows emulator.

Or just record your ARF files from screen with screen video capture software.

You have to actually download the ARF player to get the options.

1. Use the WebEx network recording editor to convert the .arf file to WMV

2. Use a video converter to convert the .arf file to something else

This won't necessarily give you great quality, but it works well enough for slide show presentations. And let's face it, the .arf files aren't cinema quality anyway.

Since you have your video in flv, mp4, avi, wmv whatever, you'll have to upload it to idevice, so I'm wondering how did you did that? Since ARF is a proprietary multimedia format of WebEx Online Meeting, you cannot directly make it work like a normal media to be played on Windows Media Player or any other devices. You must use WebEx built in convert first.
1. Launch WebEx online editor.
2. Go to "file" and choose "export to" WMV.
3. Begin conversion and extract the wmv video,
4. Find another video converter to convert the WMV file to other common formats like MP4 and AVI.
