Re: www.bbc.co.uk: How to record BBC Radio 1 stream from BBC iPlayer(RTMP .flv, RTSP

BBC Radio 1 uses two stream formats:
1. rtmp:// .flv audio only stream
2. rtsp:// .ra audio stream

You can download/record/capture/save/rip both:
  1. There are several streaming media rippers and audio stream rippers that can download/capture/rip/save rtsp:// .ra streams. The only program that can capture packets from Real Player is WM Recorder. WM Recorder supports scheduling, which might be very useful when downloading/ripping/capturing/saving audio streams.
Note: Please use Real Player 10 with WM Recorder.
  2. There are several RTMP Flash stream recorders that you can use. Jaksta is the only RTMP capture software that I know. It can capture packets coming to your flash player, so you can listen and capture BBC Radio 1 at the same time without creating two separate threads for this. Plus Jaksta supports scheduling.

Please note that the above mentioned software doesn't allow you to split and tag songs from BBC Radio 1 automatically.

And you can always record audio from your sound card using direct sound recording software. Replay Music is the only direct sound recording program that allows you to split and tag songs automatically.

You may also listen to and record BBC Radio 1 in Windows Media format. Here is the link to rtsp:// .asf Windows Media audio stream:
Code:

There are lots of programs that can record/capture/save/rip/download RTSP Windows Media streams. And there are two programs that can capture packets coming to your Windows Media Player: WM Recorder in the PRO mode and freeware WebVideoCap. WM Recorder has a scheduler.

Hi, I cannot use Jaksta for BBC iPlayer, I think, there is a setting in port monitoring [Tools/Setting], and I don't know exactly which port iPayer uses for this. I read the 1935 and 4628 ports from my firewall. but after adding this ports [tried both RTMP and HTTP], Jaksta cannot detect any stream again?!?

Could anybody test this for me, and let me know what I must do about this problem?

Thanks,

BBC iPlayer uses different ports. I tried several times and most of the time the 80 port was used. I removed the HTTP monitoring and added RTMP monitoring for the port 80 in Jaksta and it captured the audio. Although I didn't manage to download the rtmp:// .flv stream with it.

You can use freeware CurrPorts to find out the port number. See the "Remote port" number for your browser and the "fcdsXXX.frf.llnw.net" remote host.

the CurrPorts was very useful, and I can find the correct ports, and Jaksta
successfully detects it. but another problem arises: downloads seems incomplete, e.g. the iPlayer indicates the total duration of track is 29:00 and my download duration are less (about 25:00).

If you experienced this kind of issues before?

Also, I download the same stream with Replay Media Catcher (RMC), the size of the file is about half, in compare of my first download, but the content is same (of course, appears there is a problem with showing the real length of the track!) What you think about this difference?

Do you download with Jaksta or record (capture packets from flash player)?

Make sure to use the latest version of Jaksta. You can also contact the support of Jaksta or send a private message to crs, a member of our forum.

What player do you use? Do you have the same problem in other players (like VLC, Applian FLV Player)?

The content is the same, but do you have problem with the speed when playing? Do you get a complete file after downloading with any of the programs (or do you get wrong duration number only)?

I have the same problem with Replay Media Catcher. Tried both VLC and Applian FLV Player.

You can try to Repair FLV files by remuxing them with freeware FLV Extract and mp4box. Or even better, just extract AAC audio from FLV files using freeware FLV Extract. You can also convert your recordings to MP3 using RMC itself or any audio/video converter.

Yes, I use Jaksta 3.1.0 and I don't have any problem with it anymore. As you experienced too, the problem is in the speed of playing in Replay Media Catcher (RMC).

and after finishing download, I get the whole file with both of them.
