How to make Hidownload, Net transpost and others download through open ways?

Hello
How to download a *.ra stream file? Hidownload, Net transpost, Streamdown and
others cannot download, but all stream Players, like RealPlayer, play
streaming files through my LAN.
The LAN has a security wall probably, therefore the Hidownload,
Net transpost cannot download. How to make Hidownload, Net transpost
download through open ways, which RealPlayer plays through? The Hidownload, Net transpost and others can download through other connections.

Recording Real Audio streams

From what web-site are you trying to record?

Are you sure you have found the correct stream URL? I suggest you to use URL Snooper or packet sniffer software like free Project URL Snooper to find stream URLs.

If you can watch it, you should be able to record it with RM Recorder in the Proxy mode. You may try it for free.

Thanks Stream Recorder.
I'm trying to download rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio4/news/inbusiness/inbusiness_20051103.ra for example.
Does the Proxy mode allow to download faster than playing time?
My Yahoo! Messenger with Voice 7.5 connects only with "Firewall with no proxies" option; not "Use proxies", "No proxies", "No network detection". How to enable "Firewall with no proxies" option in multithread stream recorders?

Learn to get correct URLs

Proxy mode of RM Recorder has nothing to do with proxy servers. It just allows you to record a media stream that your Real Player plays.
Adapter mode of RM Recorder is another mode that can be used to catch packets before they come to the Real Player. It can be used on a PC with a network adapter.

Also RM Recorder is a handy tool to find URLs of Real Media streams. Its free trial mode allows you to use it as a URL snooper for free.

How did you get the BBC URL? Did you use Project URL Snooper?

The URL you have found is OK, but you may have problems recording from it.
For example, your firewall may block all RTSP traffic.
I have to repeat one more time. Use Project URL Snooper or RM Recorder to get the URL that your Real Player uses when playing the stream.

The Real Player is smart enough to switch between protocols (HTTP, RTSP, PNM) and to change port numbers (554 - RTSP port, 7070 - PNM port, 80 and 8080 - HTTP ports).

In your case the Real Player can use say the following URLs:
http://rmv8.bbc.net.uk:554/radio4/ne...ss_20051103.ra (RTSP port is used)
http://rmv8.bbc.net.uk:8080/radio4/n...ss_20051103.ra (HTTP port is used)
or whatever other combination. You may find it out by trying every combination possible. However it is better just to find the URL that your Real Player uses when playing the stream with the method mentioned above.

Thanks, Stream Recorder, for your reply!
I opened inbusiness_20051103.ram file in the Notebook program and copied rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio4/news/inbusiness/inbusiness_20051103.ra from there.
What is the difference between recording a media stream that my RealPlayer plays and catching packets before they come to the RealPlayer?

The difference is that one od of recording may work better than other. Ideally the result of a recording process should be the same.

In the adapter mode and proxy mode the RM Recorder and WM Recorder work between a server and a player. You may learn more from the user manual.

Your stream URL is probably OK if you don't use firewall. I bet your Real Player uses the other one. Try to find it and tell us.
