Using freeware VLC for recording TVU Player streams

TVU Player streams can be viewed with freeware VLC player. VLC can also help if a stream buffers but doesn't load correctly.

To use VLC for recording TVU Player streams:
  1. Start the TVU Player stream and let it buffer.
  2. Start VLC, go to go to "Media" -> "Open Network...". Select "HTTP" option, and type in "127.0.0.1:8901" in the "Address" edit box.
  3. Press ALT+S (or click on the drop-down list on the bottom of the dialog window and select "Stream").
  4. Check "File" and select a file on your computer to which your video will be saved. Select "Dump raw input" and hit the "Stream" button.
  5. Leave TVU Player running (closing TVU Player closes the stream).
  6. You may need to mute the sound in TVU Player so it doesn't affect the sound in VLC.
