How to stream with linux - mpeg-4 and other avi etc

Hi,

I have just set up a linux web server, and i am trying to stream video online.

When they click on the link, the whole video clip starts to download before it is played, rather than streaming it and being able to view it from early on. Check it out on:

http://www.aboutourrock.com/issue1/arts/7sins.htm

I use a pop up to stream the video.

<a href="javascript:;" onClick="MM_openBrWindow('../video/7Sins.mp4','AOR','width=400,height=300')"><font class="link">Click Here for QUICKTIME Video</font></a>

please help
thanks

You need a streaming server to broadcast streaming content. You may find some solutions at

i have now set up the darwind streaming server to stream my video clips... however now i have the problem that i am able to stream .mov clip but when i try to view a .mp4 clip it does not work.

i have been trying to read about what the cause could be, and the issue of hinting is the only thing i can think of. howver all the clips i use a hinted for mp4 streaming.

Please advise

kind regards

Sorry, but this forum is more about stream recording than broadcasting. Please try other sources.
