Is it safe to upgrade windows media player if I don't plan to remove DRM anymore?

I've finished removing the DRM for my videos. My subscription is about to expire, so I don't need the software anymore. Since I'm not planning on removing anymore DRM, is it safe to upgrade my windows media player or should I keep it at my current version to view my DRM-removed video files?

You don't have any plans on removing DRM... And if need to remove DRM from some of your files, what will you do? It might not be that easy to downgrade your WMP. However from the security point of view it is usually a good idea to get the latest version of software.

Why do you wanna upgrade your Windows Media Player. Is your current version unstable?

Please note that after upgrading, you might need to get DRM licenses from DRM-protected videos to play them (of course DRM-free video files should play just fine).

My reasoning is kind of stupid. I just don't like how the version I downgraded to looks. I don't plan on subscribing or purchasing anything else on the internet, I'm 99% positive that I won't need to remove DRM from files anymore. Thanks for your help. =)
