Replay Media Catcher problem: Video recorded from ustream.tv plays too fast

I think this is the right thread.

I was recording FLV live streams with Replay Media Catcher which works just fine, however when I playback the video its way too fast.

I have set the FLV timestamp to 110 and it looks better now but I am really curious what this is all about / how I can choose the perfect timestamp number.

Can you please post or pm the URL of the web-site so that the developer can try to solve this bug?

What player do you use to play recorded FLV videos?

Thx for quick response, for example flash feeds like on this site here:

Code:

http://www.ustream.tv/live
Today the 110 timestamp wasn't sufficient so I had to increase that again... don't know what problem that might be.

I use the freeware Flash Video Player that comes along with media catcher.

Thanks,
JM

I was talking with support and here is the answer:
Hi

There are a lot of new formats that are coming out all the time. When a new format comes out that is not compatible with our program then we need to update-that is what is happening in this case.

Another example is Pandora-they changed the way they stream recently. Our developer is working on this and we hope to have a remedy out for this in the next week or so. Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cheryl Wester

However I can't understand why the software Orbit Downloader doesn't have problems with recordings...this one is freeware. Media Catcher is superior over this only in that it is able to catch more streams...

Orbit Downloader might be better in this case and with some other streams.

Free software isn't necessarily worse. However when you buy products from Applian you get:
  • Fast and friendly support
  • No spyware, no adware software
  • 30-day unconditional money-back guarantee

Besides Replay Media Catcher has lots of nice features:
  • Easy to use: While Orbit might be easy to use for you, its interface is too difficult for most regular users. And Replay Media Catcher offers one-click recording.
  • Renames recorded videos automatically: I haven't seen any other software that can rename videos from the most popular streaming video web-sites. It saves your time significantly.
  • Tags recorded songs automatically. For MP3 files, the artist, album, song title and other information are added to the ID3 tags automatically.

But the above mentioned is not important to you, then just use freeware Orbit Downloader. Problems do happen. But at least when you buy software you know that you support the developer and you expect your problems to be solved.

I have a similar, if not exact problem with RMC.

Through my observation, incorrect video playback only occurs in recorded streams that have no audio.

Why this happens? I believe it's because the length of the recording is not properly kept, and an improper, much shorter duration is put into the FLV file, thus affecting the frame rate, resulting in sped up playback. FLV players don't have the audio track to fall back on to calculate the proper fps.

Can you please provide me with the URL of the video you're trying to record, so I can trouble shoot the issue?

I think every live stream (with no audio track) I've come across has the problem.

I have Been trying to capture/record the live stream from
http://chris.pirillo.com/live/

It works with flv downloader, but i dont wnat to use that because its only a demo, and i wont always beable to use it.

I want it to work in orbit, but it just constantly trys to connect to file hosts, and after a while just fails. its quite annoying
