AVC 783 DVR: How to watch CCTV from home over internet

 

Hi,
I recently set up cctv for a boy and he is wanting to watch this over the internet (from home on his laptop) i connected the dvr to his router that he got free from talktalk and i can watch it no problem from pc on network or wireless through network by typing in the ip address. but im not quite sure how to watch from home any help would be great thanks. dvr is avc 783 and he has lost the instructions think it is chinese make thanks in advance :D

Also request the User manual for you AVC 783 on the vendor's web-site. If your DVR is made by AVTech, then visit "http://avtech.com/Downloads/"

yes read that one I have a static ip which is 192.168.1.10 does this help me connect? Am i best to try connect through a vnc? thanks for your help

It is easier to use than with a dynamic IP.

thanks for your help i have just downloaded logmein and this works fine although he has to leave his desktop running thanks for all your help:cool:

You should probably know that Remote access and desktop sharing software like LogMeIn makes your computer more exposed to hacker attacks. So I would use a native software for your DVR instead.

Native means that it comes with your AVC 783 DVR (or can be downloaded from the web-site of the vendor)

Many DVRs these days have a web interface. All you need to do is port forward port 80 to your DVR IP on your router and you will be able to see CCTV over internet.

It may help to register a dyndns address (dyndns.org) - it is easier to remember than your IP especially if you have a dynamic IP address.

Its called WESP DVR MANAGER.
