Capture from iwatch.be (capturing windows media mms:// .wmv streaming video)

I've tried several programs from the "All streaming media recording software" list, non of them seems to work for me. I've also installed firefox plugins without any results. I want to capture streaming media from www.iwatch.be eg http://www.iwatch.be/2007/player.htm...tnieuw s_7_13 These streams are DRM protected
who can help?

I've tried WM Recorder and had no any problem capturing streaming Windows Media videos from iwatch.be. Windows Media streams at iWatch.be are not DRM protected.

If you use some other streaming video recorder, you may need to change http:// onto mms:// or rtsp:// in a stream URL, or change the user-agent to the one used by your Windows Media Player, for example:
Code:

NSPlayer/9.0.0.2980

Thanks "Stream Recorder" for the quick reply!

I'm sorry but I've only tried freeware as Fast Video Download, DownloadHelper, Unplug and Ook? Video Ook! plugin for firefox and Orbit, SDP MultiMedia and snagit trial, then I gave up.

I've installed WMR and this one seems to work with the news and weather forecast streams (witch are free), hope this works also with the pay/view titels witch are DRM I think. If your dutch is good see the faq :D (Helaas wordt dit nog niet ondersteund. De beveiliging van de videofiles gebeurt via Windows Media DRM (Digital Rights Management). Op dit ogenblik kunnen dergelijke files enkel op een Windows PC bekeken worden.)

WMR Uses
Code:

The strange thing is if I try to capture with Orbit Downloader it gives me three possibilities:

1.
Code:

http://streaming.vtm.be/VTM/agility/20080217_hnlaat.wmv&OBT_fname=20080217_hnlaat.wmv
witch saves only 163 bites!
Code:

File name 20080217_hnlaat.wmv
Size 63B
Local path  C:\Downloads\
File type wmv
Downloaded 100%

2.

2008-02-18 13:28:39 Wait for retry(5S)

3.

Same with SDPReceiver
Code:

> OPEN :    http://streaming.vtm.be/VTM/agility/20080217_hnlaat.wmv
> SAVE :    C:\Downloads\20080217_hnlaat 2.wmv

I'm able to download with SDP, in settings I changed TCP protocol to HTTP and now I can capture the news stream. Hope this works for a pay/view as well. After paying for a stream the server puts a cookie and one can only view the stream 10 times and only for 24 hours...

Re: Capture from iwatch.be (capturing windows media mms:// .wmv streaming video)

Orbit Downloader failed to record... I don't really recommend it at all.

I couldn't get this stream with freeware SDPReceiver either.

But freeware GetASFStream works fine with free streaming Windows Media videos at iWatch.be

Shareware stream rippers like WM Recorder, Replay AV and NetTransport also record Windows Media streaming videos from iwatch.be without any problem.

As for DRM protected streams, DRM removal software should only be used with legally purchased files. Please do not abuse rental licenses.

the stupid thing is these are the streams of a tv station witch you can record with VHS or DVD recorder if you don't forget to program you recorder  . If you missed the program or forgot to record you can order them from the net, unfortunatly then they are DRM so you can't record them anymore !?

There is a difference between ordering to watch and to own...

It is a big paradox:
You can record for free from your TV tuner, DVD recorder to whatever format you like.
But when you pay your money for the same content, you may have many restrictions due to DRM protection.

I don't like DRM at all. It doesn't stop users to remove DRM protection from audio/video files downloaded from subscription services. I prefer to boycott services that offer protected content, but there are some exceptions.
