.IVR converter - Convert from Internet Video Recording (IVR) format to MP3,MPEG-2,4

Can you help me find a converter for Internet Video Recording (IVR) format? I have dl-ed several files legally and would like to convert them to a format that my Windows PDA would recognize but I have not had any luck.

If you download the video that you are watching at tvparma.it, for example, the file is dl-ed by RealPlayer without any problem. But if I highlight it and choose convert, I get an error msg that it cannot be converted.

I sent an email to tech support of the RealPlayer and they replied saying that the IVR file format cannot be converted and is meant for live viewing. Yet, when you place the mouse pointer over the video, you get a pop-up option that ask you if you would like to download the video. So, what’s going on?
While RealPlayer seemed to originally be designed to prevent users from capturing/recording/ripping/saving downloading music or video content to their hard drives, the new version 11 allows users to save streaming content to hd. So RealPlayer became a stream ripper software.

The problem is that RealPlayer saves its recordings using its new proprietary format called Internet Video Recording (IVR). I can't tell you for sure whether it can save some streams to their native formats or not. At least it captures MP3 audio streams to .IVR files.

As far as I can remember RealPlayer has always been a "heavy" player. That is why many people prefer to use Real Alternative. The same situation is with RealPlayer as a stream ripper. It can't split and tag songs when ripping MP3 streams. It saves to .IVR files that can only be played by RealPlayer.

I haven't seen any audio/video converters for the .IVR (Internet Video Recording) files. If you wanna transfer your audio/video stream recording to a portable player, you should use other streaming audio/video rippers and streaming audio rippers.

For example, you can use Replay AV to record many audio/video streams and convert them automatically to the most popular formats after recording.

p.s. If you use RealPlayer as a stream ripper, it doesn't make your recordings legal automatically. Please also read the following thread for more:
Is it legal to record video streams? Can it be considered as a piracy?

You can also burn IVR audio files to an audio CD and then rip your CD to MP3 or any other format. But you will need to pay for the Real Player. And it can't even split and tag songs when recording.

There is no sense to use Real Player as a streaming audio ripper software. You can use streaming audio/video rippers or streaming audio rippers instead.

Download Ulead-VideoStudio - 30-day free trial.
It worked for me! :)

How did that work then for you? I downloaded the trial of Ulead Videostudio, but I can't open the ivr file. It says that it is a wrong format.

Hello.
I do not know what converter to suggest for converting .ivr streams and can only say what I did with a movie downloaded as a 134 MB ivr stream with my Real Player 11 (with Premium DVD burning Enabled). I burnt the ivr stream on a DVD and then ripped DVD with a DVD ripper to an avi file. Such burnt DVDs are playable both with Real Player and WMP.
Thanks.

It doesn't make any sense to me to record with Real Player, then burn to DVD and then re-rip. There are many streaming video recorders that can be used instead. Or one can just use screen video capture software to record anything that can be seen on the screen.

I also think it is much more convenient to record the video while the video was playing with a screen recorder. Generally the recorded file will be saved to a common format. If you need, you can also convert it again.

By recording from "listen again" - music from ABC Classics I found, that the free Realplayer Version 15 records sometimes in .ra, and sometimes in .ivr, with no obvious reason.
I use to convert these two filetypes with the free RealPlayer Converter Vers. 15. I works fine, it converts all two filetypes into .mp3 in batchmode.
