get_iplayer not working for bbc show

 

Hi there

I've been trying to download this show: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06ns5qf but so far i've been unsuccessful.

I even got a VPN software install that can use a UK ip, which in fact allowed me to watch that program live, but when I tried to use either get_iplayer or youtube-dl none worked.

When I tried using get_iplayer (my vpn with a UK ip was connected), apparently I recognised that I wasn't in the UK and it gave me a message indicating that the "pid" couldn't be found and that usually can happen when one is not in the UK. I've read that the BBC have been blocking some VPNs so maybe this is the reason why.

So I tried youtube-dl instead. It was a pretty straightforward command youtube-dl "http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06ns5qf" and it began downloading but it kept disconnecting. I've used up all of my VPN bandwidth and it didn't download even 40% and it was all up in fragments which I've deleted.

I tried using it again but I think this VPN software caused some trouble in my network adapter cause I couldn't connect to the internet afterwards and my computer kept rebooting. Anyway, that's besides the point.

I was wondering if anyone could help me download this video please.

Yes, I figured that much but when I click on the link he kindly provided, it says "access denied" :( (still does, i've just checked again!)

You may want to temp-disable your anti-virus, if you have one. I was getting access denied too, but as soon as I disable my AV (I have ESET), I was to download the file...

This is probably *not* the right way to go about things but I'm actually not using any AV *blushes*
I tried on Chrome, Firefox and Explorer haha.
I was able to access the website on my phone and it provided me the link. I'm downloading it right now on my phone hahaha I'll try at home later at night.

Hi,

so for me it also just works with a installed VPN Client to bypass the geo and to download.Anyway,so easy proxys aren't also working on that page (in my case).

I was able to download the vid and I'm grateful for the suggestion of the VPN software! I'll definitely check it out. Thank you so much (i think he deleted the replies) to everyone.
