In many cases there is no sense to convert.FLV videos to DVD format, because the quality of the resulting DVD Video is very low. So make sure that your source videos are good enough.

If you wanna watch your FLV videos on a large screen, you may use the video-out of your graphics card (if it has one). I haven't seen any standalone DVD players supporting FLV format, but you may use standalone devices like Apple TV to watch such videos. Some of them even allow you to watch YouTube videos without downloading them.

Digital Media Receivers and supported formats:
  • Apple TV supports QT, MPEG-4 ASP/AVS
  • NetGear Digital Entertainer supports MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, AVI, WMV, Xvid
  • Sandisk TakeTV supports MPEG4, AVI, WMV, Xvid.
It seems like conversion from .FLV files is required for all of them.

Some video converters to try: freeware DVDFlick, MediaCoder or shareware Replay Converter, Cucusoft Ultimate Video Converter.

Re: Converting .FLV to a DVD ** best conversion software

.FLV files have different codecs (On2 vp6 video .FLV, H.263 video .FLV, Nelly Moser audio .FLV, MP3 audio .FLV and audio-only .FLV) so not every audio/video converter does the conversion job perfectly.

Anyway you should probably try freeware DVDFlick and MediaCoder first.

I also like Replay Converter and Cucusoft Ultimate Video Converter. They can convert to many formats. Of course they supports FLV to DVD-Video conversion. The programs are shareware so I strongly recommend to try their free demo versions before buying!

For the best quality, I'd do this:
  1. Open FLV in VirtualDub, using the FLV Input Driver. Filter as needed, and a lot of FLV's could use some deblocking, NR, etc
  2. Encode out to HuffYUV AVI, or frameserve to an MPEG-2 encoder (TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 works fine)
  3. If HuffYUV AVI, encode to an encoder. Again, TMPGEnc is a good low-cost option. I use MainConcept.
  4. Author to DVD, using your favorite authoring software. For example, TMPGEnc DVD Authoring Works.
  5. Burn the disc in ImgBurn.
As far as an all-in-one tool, you're going to honestly get really crappy results. Mediocre at best. This easy 5-step process is mostly freeware, and you can improve the quality of the FLV along the way, to make the DVD look better.

You did ask for "best". :)

There are multiple DVD Creator for Mac softwares on the market, and I'm looking for the best FLV to DVD Mac, which can not only quickly convert FLV, MP4, AVI, M4V, MPEG, MOV, VOB, DAT, TS, etc. to DVD, but also burn movies to DVD Disc. Also I need to easily edit the input FLV files like trim video length, crop video playing region, adjust video brightness, saturation, contrast; customize DVD Menu.

On a Mac:

1. Open iDVD
2. Click "Create New Project"
3. Save it.
4. Drag the video clip into iDVD.
5. If you don't want a menu, click View -> Show Map. Then, arrange the video clip before the menu, click it, click Advanced -> Loop.
6. Burn.

You can also use the third party software, but please try it before buying since there are lots of low quality FLV to DVD converters on the market!

Hope it can help you :)
