CBS All Access Downloading

 

Hi, I am trying to download episodes of Big Brother from CBS All Access.

The only working downloader that has even remotely worked is atresdownloader (even then, I get a really low quality audio stream for some reason).

Suggestions on what program(s) to use/how to fix the atresdownloader issue?

That's probably your best bet tbh -- you do realize that up until s16 there were no hidef broadcasts of that show? So 720x540 is the best resolution you'll get up until s16.

Right... but the issue is the audio that's in that resolution (and all the resolutions)... It's extremely low quality (48kbps). I know there's a higher quality sound stream on the site because the sound quality is noticeably higher when I watch the older episodes on the site.

I'm having the exact same problem. Adownloader is amazing, it let's the download the videos perfectly, at all different resolutions. But the Audio is only 48.0 kbps. Most of the files are around "48.0 Kbps, 22.05 KHz, 2 channels, AAC (LC). When you stream the video in browser, you notice the audio quality is a lot higher.

yes cbs hls having 48k audio. yes cbs rtmp having 128k audio. you yes downloading hls for high video and yes also downloading rtmp for high audio and muxing them together yes being having sync.

Hrm, i can't figure out how to force it to rtmp. I get theplatform smil with the rtmp stream in it, but can't figure out how to rip that out, it keeps failing on me.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but 'till this day, I still haven't figured it out, so was wondering if anyone could help?

I'm able to download episodes fine, using youtube-dl, but the audio is still lower quality. From what i've read, CBS is using an alternate stream for higher audio quality, via rtmp. But I can seem to be able to dump it.

If anyone knows a way to retrieve this, that would be great. I've tried using rtmpdump, but still can't seem to get it right. Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to do that, Jon. In terms of the big bang theory, you are definitely right, they sound almost identical. But i wonder if maybe it's specific to the older shows, like Big Brother, or Survivor. There seems to be a distinct difference between the two audibly, from what I hear at least. Or maybe it's just CBS all access in general, because wasn't that big bang episode available without all access?

From what stinkfoot said in this thread, he seems to know that rtmp will produce 128k audio, but i've never been able to figure it out. Anyway, thanks for the help!
