hi there,

i hope i do nothing wrong, when asking this maybe stupid question. but any help is much appreciated.

i just try different methods of recording livestreams from cb / (mfc support would be nice too).

Started testing Livestreamer.

Using the easiest command >> livestreamer cb.com/model best works in that way, it opens my vlc player and streams the cam there.

the questions I have, how can i record that stream? tried it with vlc, but no real luck, most of the time, the player just crashes.

with livestreamer i have the option to have a file output ( -o Filename) - but whats that for a format and how can i convert that to a player-friendly readable format.

and how does livestreamer work, with private/password shows in cb, when I have the password? how can i authenticate myself?

many questions, i hope anybode can help me with that. (or suggestions for another software, which works better is much appreciated too).

Firstly, you should find a media player that can play live stream normally. Next use a screen recorder to capture the video. For example, launch the recorder application and choose audio input before recording. And then drag recording area on the live stream. The video will be recorded and saved in your hard drive once the recording is completed. I often use free online screen recorder, you can also try this application here, it’s free.

Hi,

so normaly its not necessary to convert the format if your player can also play them.But if you want to convert it (custom and no KF cutting / editing etc) then you can do it too so for this there are tons of tools to find but in some or more cases sound & image lines aren't same anymore (image or sound running faster etc).Good tools are VirtualDub+Filters & FFmpeg (both free).

For the recording process you can also use free tools as livestreamer or and RtmpDump but both are commandline tools without GUI (or you do code a own GUI for both) so you got no easy handling with them so you have a difficult handling in that case but they are working with CB and MFC.A disadvantage for LS is that it need a long time till it starts to play or record a stream so here its better to use RD if possible if not then record over LS m3u8.

Anyway,whether CB or MFC so both stream in a very low quality (downstreaming) so this makes no fun if you can see the same streams at same time on other sites in real good quality.

No, it starts immediately. I think you should invest some money in a faster internet connection.

So I don't think that the problem is my internet speed.Maybe (just maybe) its a location issue or overload server of these websites.Just example,CB & MFC streams are mostly not working very liquid for me so you have first a really bad stream quality which does more jump all few frames and also you have a bad connection to the server where you don't get quick answer from.Otherwise LJ for example has super conditions so you got a very quick answer from server (= liquid streaming) and LJ does also stream in a very good quality which also use more traffic.So thats the difference between low and high quality sites where you need to pay for it.
