Recording VOD streams from Aebn & Hotmovies

 

Hi guys . .

I only registered here to seek help for this question, very interesting forum by the way!

I tried many software to try to record/sniff/download VOD streams from sites like Aebn , Hotmovies , dorcelvision , Salerixxx but all were unsuccessful .

Have any one succeeded in saving/ripping from these sites? if so please share your method here.

I can offer free pass to aebn or hotmovies for any expert who wish to try his method as long as eventually he should make it and save the stream.

I've done this before but its been a while (AEBN & HotMovies). You can sniff out the stream link using URL Snooper and you can download with something like NetTransporter or Orbit. NT was the best IMO since it was multithreaded so it was fast d/l. However, this only works if you are doing WMVs (there should be some settings in the account to play the vids in wmv format). If I remember correctly, AEBN new encodings are mp4 and this doesnt work on it. You may want to try RMC5 for that. I am assuming you are recording the whole movie, not just a section and that you have enough minutes on the account to d/l the whole movie.

I just tried Salerixxx with some success using RTMPDumpHelper. I haven't d/led the whole vid yet but at least it's catching the stream. Another issue its that the vid plays in low quality and it doesn't seem to be switching to hd when i click on it. So if you are happy with that quality then you can try that. Or you can try messing with the parameter to get the HD stream.

Same problem with hotmovies.

I tried a trial version of Replay Video Capture 7 but it only records two minutes and without sound (even after editing sound settings as instructed by the program).

Also, RTMPdump 2-3 is really difficult for me to use, can't figure it out.

edit: I'm trying to download scenes, not full movies necessarily.

Ok, to topic starter: try urlsnooper + Net Transport.

Works fine for me on hotmovies, only "problem" is it downloads the entire DVD and not seperate scenes, but that's a VERY minor flaw.

And it seems you don't need enough minutes to watch the full DVD, just enough for the selected scene to play. Net Transport will still download the full DVD for you.

I can tell, because I clicked one scene of 21 minutes and had 23 minutes in the account. Now, my minutes are spent but I still got the full DVD (yes, in a somewhat low quality, but still good to watch).

You don't necessarily need the full minutes if your d/l speed is faster the time it takes the movie to play.

I'm NOT going to test every single site for you in order to confirm

BUT I will suggest you try the following two programs, in this order.

1. Replay Media Catcher
2. Replay Video Capture

If the first DOESN'T record from any of those sites, the 2nd WILL ;)

on aebn open the free sample of the last scene in any movie. in the page source you'll see a manifest file. run that through ksm's adobehds script and you'll get all the scenes except the last one.

i think if you get free minutes you'll get an auth string to download the whole movie at full quality. but you'll have to use up one minute authorizing the download.

haven't tried the replay software as it's windows only.
