Streaming transmission speed

 

Hopefully somebody can calrify this for me.

I do a lot of intranet streaming within my company network where the network guys required a streaming speed of 386 KBPS or lower.

Recently I was asked to stream to the outside world, should I keep the same rate at 386 KBPS or should that be lowered to accomodate less bandwith.
