Recording gameplay with a PC from xbox using PC software only

Hey guys, this is my first thread, but i was wondering, i've seen loads of people sayin that you need things like camcorders or capture cards to be able to record gameplay on xbox or playstation. so what am i asking? i wanted to know if there is any software which i can download onto my laptop which will enable me to connect my laptop to the xbox using AVI cables or USB connectors and to then use the software i downloaded to record what's on the xbox. i know it's a big ask, but i've been searchin for about half an hour everyday for a week and a bit because i desparatley need a way of recording gameplay since i'm trying to setup a gaming channel on YouTube. i don't have the money for expensive hardware like the type of boxes you can buy when you connect your laptop and xbox to it and then record, i'm willing to spend at most (and i mean not even a penny over) ?50 on hardware. the software doesn't matter too much, but it's the hardware i don't want to be too expensive, and i only want to buy any external hardware if it is DEFINITE MUST thanks in advance

Re: Recording gameplay with a PC

I can only speak from experience, but i've had to use a screen capture tool COMBINED with wires hooked up from my PC to my TV to record the gameplay. I played around with this a few years ago when I had a gaming youtube channel, but got bored of it :)
