How to record rtsp:// .3gp streaming videos from YouTube Mobile

 

has anyone been able to rip you tube mobile streams ?? Im not talking about the
Flv format I mean the RTSP streams used for the mobile content Im able to view the stream from just about any media player such as QT or Real player but every single stream ripper i have tried fails here is a direct link to the 3gp file

Haven't seen such streams before. But you can record .FLV YouTube videos and convert .FLV files to 3g2 or any other format.

That is where you find them. You can dump them using freeware VLC player and the MP4 container. (Note that VLC Player won't play amr audio)

i was able to record this using mencoder

mencoder rtsp://rtsp.youtube.com/youtube/videos/JpBGRA6HHtY/video.3gp -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=56 -ovc lavc -o done.avi -rtsp-stream-over-tcp

take the video id and put it on regular youtube url

does this grab the raw video file from youtube or does it re encode it before saving to your hardrive

As you can see on the above line, it re-encodes to .avi video with mp3 audio.
