Sniff Flash Player Source Without Sending to Sound Card?

Is there a way to sniff a flash player audio stream without sending the audio to the sound card? I simply want to know whether the stream is active or not.

The idea is to know whether a flash player stream is active from a new source before switching from a current source, without sending concurrent audio streams to the sound card.
