Restarting rtmpdump when the live stream diesI need help making a bash script to monitor the status of rtmpdump as it dumps a live stream to an output file, and if the stream dies for whatever reason, I want rtmpdump to restart but dump the stream to another filename. In other words, I'd like to have a bash script for unattended rtmpdump recording of live streams. Thanks for any assistance.

Re: Restarting rtmpdump when the live stream diesI've asked around for something like this for a while. Nothing has come up yet. The only way I know of doing it right now would be to have a script that continuously runs rtmpdump for a certain channel until it successfully downloads something. Not ideal, but other than using something like TubeDigger that's all I can think of.

Re: Restarting rtmpdump when the live stream diesI guess this is just a general bash scripting question, I'll try on linuxquestions. Generally speaking, I'm surprised others are not doing scheduled dumps of RTMP live streams? All the ones I've ever dealt with usually die before the stream is actually finished.
