Problem with WM Recorder 14 in Vista x64: Repeated registration message at startup

 

I am running WM Recorder 14 in Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Each time I start, I am given the "WM Recorder 14 has a lot of exciting benefits...." message. After I clear that message, I am given the register message box. I input my registration (from an earlier version, I bought the 14 upgrade a few days ago) and it tells me that my registration was successful and it appears that I can run the version without restrictions.

The problem is that each time I start the program, the same thing happens. The program never appears to update itself as being registered. Should I have received a new registration number for version 14? I also have WM Capture and it doesn't do this nor did the previous version of WM Recorder.

Thanks for you quick response but, no, it didn't solve the problem. I still get the "WM Recorder 14 has a lot of exciting benefits" box followed by the "Register Now" box each time I restart the program.

I don't know if this helps you but I checked Options>Other>Check/Enter Registration and the reg number is correctly there (after I complete the install and input the reg number). When I restart the program, I do the same thing and the reg number is still there when the "WM Recorder 14 has a lot of exciting benefits" box pops up. When I get the "Register Now" box requesting my reg number , if I click on "Continue in Demo Mode", and then check Options>Other>Check/Enter Registration, I get 'Unregistered version" as my reg number. If I close the program again and restart and go to Options>Other>Check/Enter Registration again, the reg number is back instead of “Unregistered version” but I still get the "WM Recorder 14 has a lot of exciting benefits" box followed by the "Register Now" box. Again, I don't know if that helps you.

Is this a Vista x64 specific problem because I tried to install the program on a 7 x64 machine and I didn't have the problem?

I stand corrected. The same problem is present on the 7 x64 machine I installed WM Recorder 14 on.

I tried to run the program (both versions, the one download on the site and the one you PMed me) on a Vista x86 machine and I had the same problem.

Yes, I running the program as administrator.

Also, I checked the version of the program at Options>General and click on Updates. The following message is returned:

"No updates are currently posted. Current version is 12.2 - 09/17/08"

But beneath the Updates button, the Current Version is listed as 14.1 - 01/05/10

Can you make sure you indeed are using WM Recorder14 right now? To do this, click on SETTINGS, the version # and date should be in the bottom.

On another note, The new version 14.1 is up and running. Open Settings and click Updates in the
current WMR (14.0) or download from

What's new

1. Automatic updates - upgraded files are automatically downloaded replacing
the exisiting files. The automatic updates can be disabled/enabled from
Settings.

2. The Flash RTMP files can now be recorded in two ways - with or without
real time preview (from OPTIONS / Flash RTMP download options). When the
real time preview is disabled the recorded file can only be visible when the
recording is COMPLETE or the user cancels the download. Otherwise you can
preview the actual file while the recording goes on.

I downloaded the file at the link. After uninstalling the program that was on my computer, I installed the downloaded file.

The version at Setting>Update is given as 14.1 -01/07/10

There is no change in the behavior of the program, though. At start, it still gives me the "WM Recorder 14 has a lot of exciting benefits" message box followed by the request for my registration number.

Every single time I open WM Recorder 14, I get a dialog box that pops up that says, "WM Recorder 14 has a lot of exciting benefits. Would you like to learn about upgrading to WM Recorder 14 now?". Regardless of whether I choose yes or no, I am taken to the screen to enter my registration code.

I enter my key and all is good. But what a pain it is becomming to have to do this every single time.:mad:

I am now running WM recorder version 14.1 - 01/24/10., on a Windows 7 PC.

I have done the uninstall/reinstll, and run as administrator numerous times.

Any suggestions on how to make this issue go away?

Did you purchase the upgrade for wmr 14 for $9.99?

It sounds like you're trying to use an old code with the new version...

This wasn't directed at me specifically but I'll answer because I also reported the problem.

I purchased the $9.99 upgrade and have tried to installed the "code" that was installed with the installer. I installed it on a computer that had a previous version. I've tried to install it on a clean computer, with no previous version installed. I've tried Windows Vista both x86 and x64 as well as Windows 7. The same thing happens all the time. The problem with this version persists.

It still hasn't been fixed. :mad:

Did you use the new code they gave you? It's not an auto upgrade, you do need to use the new code. PM me your code, i'll test it and let you know what I get.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you mean by "code". To install the program, I run the install program I downloaded from wmrecorder.com and follow the instructions. After the installation, I run the program.

Is there something else I'm supposed to do? Are you referring to the installation program when you refer to "code"?

If you look at my original post in this thread, I posted that I'd just bought the 14 upgrade (on January 3) and asked if I should have gotten a new registration code, which I didn't. As a matter of fact, I didn't get any kind of confirmation email at all but I was charged.

FTR, I've purchased all of the Applian's WM products as well as the Replay Suite.

FYI, for anyone following this thread, the problem was resolved with an new registration code so the reg code for earlier version don't work for the version 14 update. :)
