Both of those programs don't record. It shows the file but it won't download. Especially on the new MTV videos like America's Best Dance Crew episodes. Any solutions besides screen capture software because the recorded videos are choppy as I prefer high quality video.

I can't download the latest MTV music videos with both Replay Media Catcher and Jaksta.

I can only suggest to use screen video capture program. But I should notice that if you use proper settings the quality of recordings is not that bad.

I used both Jaksta and Replay Media Catcher and they don't work with mtv videos :( From Jaksta logfile:

Freeware MTV Grabber is a freeware program that can record flash videos from MTV.

I've tried version 4.05 and was able to download RTMPE flash videos from mtv.com. The program doesn't seem to work on mtv.co.uk, mtv.ca, mtvu.com,...


The paid version of the program called save2pc Pro + Extra Pack supports more web-sites, but from all MTV web-sites I was able to download from mtv.com only.

I've tried an older version of GetFLV and some RTMPdump tutorials here, but I can't seem to get videos like
_http://buzzworthy.mtv.com/2011/03/18/avril-lavigne-interview/
and
_http://www.mtv.com/videos/interview/panic-at-the-disco/626442/panic-at-the-disco-on-their-style.jhtml
from MTV to download. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just saw your post about rtmpdump here.

I see that RTMPdump 2.1d still works with some rtmpe sites. I was trying to download a video from MTV, more specifically this one:

you haven't specified the -o switch so it dumps the binary output to stdout (console) which causes continuous beeping. full cmd line will be

Hi,

I am not a noob in this problematics but I can't figure the actual right settings for rtmpdump to rip some mtv.com videos.

For example, the URL Snooper gave me this rtmp stream link:

Use RTMPdump 2.4 and try the RTMPexplorer. It will give you the parameters you need. The only thing it doesn't show is if there is a secure token compiled in the swf file. So if it doesn't download or just downloads some seconds, you know what to search for in this forum.
