How to upgrade IBX from 11.0.6000.6324 to v11.0.6000.7000

Here's a simple question how do I upgrade from v11.0.6000.6324
to v11.0.6000.7000? Windows demanded an "update" to play a file and I went from v11.0.6000.7000 to v11.0.6000.6324

I have the same question. Since I reinstalled XP OS, my IBX version went back to 6324, and the tools I'd downloaded didn't work.

This is because 6324 is the newest IBX... again. Surprise! I'm amazed how much confusion this brilliant tactic has caused.

Most probably you won't be able to get IBX 11.0.6000.7000, but you can try to get a lower IBX that is different from 11.0.6000.6324 by either downgrading your Windows or using a fresh copy of Windows (a standalone one or use virtual machine like VMWare or Virtual PC).

Please note that some content providers will force you to upgrade your OS so that your IBX will be the latest one, i.e. 11.0.6000.6324.

I followed the link provided Anonymous Stream Ripper above.

(I'm trying to use drmdbg and freeme2 to remove drm from wmv files.)

I've got a desktop with vista and a laptop with xp. Doesn't look like it's going to work on vista so i copied the files to the laptop. I did as instructed for xp - dowgraded WMP to 10, deleted DRM folder, and reindividualised. That just installs the 11.0.6000.6324 again though. am i doing something wrong?

You shouldn't update Windows after downgrading.

This is what those instructions said
Quote:

If you run XP, just
1. downgrade to WMP10,
2. delete your DRM directory (Caution: You will lose all you licenses!)
3. and re-individualize..
That's all i did, no other updating. I was under the impression that it should individualize the Indivbox.key based on the version on windows media player now installed, which is 10, but it did it for 11.

EDIT - maybe a restart was required before individualizing? i'll try that now

Re: How to upgrade IBX from 11.0.6000.6324 to v11.0.6000.7000

I have now tried the following. Using the instructions on the site:
http://undrm.info/remove-DRM-protect...dia-Player.htm

Under the title

FairUse4WM 1.3 fix downgrading Windows Media Player 11 Final to 11.0.5705.5043

I reinstalled WMP11 on my laptop, and deleted DRM folder and copied the files as instructed to change to WMP 11.0.5705.5043. Loading WMP and looking in Help -> About, confirms that I now have this version. Finally reindividualizing (as instructed) at http://services.wmdrm.windowsmedia.c...en/indivit.asp.

Again, looking in the newly created indiv.key file or whatever it is, shows i'm back to version 11.0.6000.6324. I'd really appreciate if anyone could help here.

Thanks very much in advance,
James

Re: How to upgrade IBX from 11.0.6000.6324 to v11.0.6000.7000

Ok another fix on the undrm site worked, under the title

FairUse4WM 1.3 2007-04-29 fix by milOtis for users running Windows VISTA (or XP)

This actually installs an older version of WMP 11 instead of just copying files over like the other one. The IBX is now the appropriate older one, and fairuse4wm works.

I'm still curious as to why the other methods must have worked for other people but not for me, any ideas?

How to uninstall and roll back Windows Media Player to a previous version on Windows XP

Re: How to upgrade IBX from 11.0.6000.6324 to v11.0.6000.7000

I just got a new laptop with vista and my windows media player version is 6001.7000 and when I try to use the removal kit 6000.6324 apears in the box so it won't reveal the neccesary info nest to the Clear box in drmdbg. So after reading all the posts here it seems there is no soulution but to use virtual pc? Man I wish someone would get fairuse4wm updated so it can work with the latest version of wmp because its the easiest to use but can't use it now cause of vista.

so then it seems there is no way to beat the current IBX but to roll back to a previous version? Wow I guess Microsoft won this battle...

You can roll back or install a fresh OS either standalone version or onto a virtual machine.

It is not only Microsoft that has won, but also the developers of lossy DRM removal software ;)

Am I misinterpreting the thread you posted, or is it impossible to roll back if you've never had a lower version installed? Correct me if I'm wrong, but you say to use System Restore and that can only go back to the way things used to be.

When you roll back to a previous version, you roll back to a previous version ;)

Actually some people managed to use fixes to get lower versions of WMP. These fixes just overwrite your system and WMP files.
