Remove DRM from purchased .wmv.GGGZ files that can be played by Windows Media Player

Hello. I've buyed some of those vids (
Code:

http://gigaeng.giga-freeks.net/e_net_shop/drm/howto/howto.html
) but now I need to upgrade my pc... anyone know how can I make legally backup of these vids?

The files have an extension like this: .wmv.GGGZ and play correctly with my windows media player 9.00.00.3250...
Thanks in advance!

Bye

Please read the following thread:
How to backup licenses of DRM protected .WMV, .WMA Windows Media files

You can ask your content providers whether they will re-acquire licenses for your new PC.

You can also try to use DRM removal software for Windows Media .WMV files.

I also purchased videos from a similar site with pretty much the same DRM protection crap. I have vista and my files also are wmv.gggz like the topic creators. I feel pretty ripped off that I just bought this and now I can't even watch it. None of these programs seem to be working. What can I do about this?

Also I'm not tech savy at all. I should have all the proper codecs and I"ve tried several different players for the record like VLC, Media player Classic, etc.

Sound Taxi also isn't working which angers me further since I paid money for it. This isn't going well at all. I really don't want to do anything drastic like installing XP or rolling back to an older version of Media Player (which with my luck, wouldn't work anyways).

Re: Remove DRM from purchased .wmv.GGGZ files that can be played by Windows Media Pla

There are a couple of lossless DRM removal tools you can try: FairUse4WM and drmdbg with freeme2 or drm2wmv. They might not be easy to use, but they are lossless!

Soundtaxi Pro+VideoRip and Tunebite Platinum can re-record DRM-protected videos. They work like screen video capture software. The latter software needs hardware acceleration to be turned off (otherwise you get black screen when recording from Windows Media Player).

You should always try software before buying! If Soundtaxi Pro+VideoRip doesn't work for you, then contact their support. If they won't be able to help you, get your money back!!! You can also post a more detailed description of your problem here.

Re: Remove DRM from purchased .wmv.GGGZ files that can be played by Windows Media Pla

Ok I started off with Fairuse. I'm guessing I drag the video file onto the .exe file? When I did I hit "Recover Key" and than I got the following message. "IBX Version 11.0.6000.6324 isn't supported yet.
IBX Version 11.0.6000.6324 isn't supported yet."

After that it says "Attempting to recover DRMv 1 keys"

It also says something like no .dll path found or something to that effect.

When I hit "OK" again I get an error stating "Unhandled situation - 25100 while getting DRMv1 private key".

So I think that covered everything. Anything I'm missing?

FairUse4WM 1.3 fix-2 supports IBX 11.0.6000.6324.

Ok so now after getting that 1.3 fix-2, when I drag the file onto FairUse I get a message saying "Provide interoperability for windows media files has stopped working".

Also when I used that Mirakagi program it gave me this when I ran it...

"Mirakagi starts, code version 0.9
Found 0 keys in keyring.
-----------------
Processing "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM\cache\Indiv0 2.key"
Version: 11.0.6000.7000 ...

Exception c0000005 caught during file "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM\cache\Indiv0 2.key".
It is finished."

fu4m 1.3 fix-2 doesn't work with IBX 11.0.6000.7000.

Oh k. Is there another version/fix I have to get or am I pretty much screwed here? >_>

fu4wm won't work with IBX with IBX 11.0.6000.7000. But you can always try to install a fresh copy of Windows XP (install a standalone copy or use virtual machine). And you can try to downgrade WMP. It has been discussed many times.

As for other DRM removal software, it was mentioned above

If I try to go the XP route I"m guessing it would come with an older player of Media Player and than software that's troubling me would work with it? If so I'm willing to now give it a shot. What's a virtual machine though? Like I said I don't get a lot of this so I apologize and also thank you for the help thus far.

When you downgrade WMP, you lose all your licenses  . But it doesn't really mean that lossless DRM removal software will work.

A virtual machine is like a virtual computer. It allows to run other OSes including different versions of Windows or Unices from the OS you usually use. You just click the Play button to run another OS.

It might be easier to run another copy of Windows on a virtual machine than reboot your PC. But obiviously you need more system resources to run two OSes simultaneously.

Please read about MS Virtual PC, VMWare,... to learn more.

Hmmmm...ok. Either way it sounds like it's gonna take a decent effort and with my luck it won't work and I'll have just wasted more time. Are there any other possible options/programs that could work?

I'm having the same error message with fu4wm.

When I run mirakagi, I get the following:

div02.key"
Version: 11.0.6000.7000 ...
XML - Cert: 84 bytes, Key Storage: 2762 bytes.
DLL 1000/b0782 @ ac01000 && b2000/1d701 @ acb2000
Exception c0000005 caught during file "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM\cache\Indiv0 2.key".
It is finished.

Is it because of Vista?

You can always try lossy DRM removal software and screen video capture software.
