newb who can't download

 

happy holidays everyone

I can't seem to download this stream:

I know if I can get the m3u8, I can download it. Kicker is: I don't know how to do that.

I have downloaded youtube dl as well as livestreamer, and pretty much don't know how to use them.

any help would be appreciated.

One simple way is to use adblock plus in firefox, then filter for m3u8.

2 Quick things.

1. I downloaded Adblock plus as well as Firefox previously thinking I'd find that. I filtered for it and it never showed.

2. When I open the link in Firefox is spins without ever opening. Is the link not opening the reason the playlist doesn't show?

Not sure why you're not seeing the link in adblock. Try reloading.

I play the m3u8 in vlc w/ no issues. Whether it will play in a browser depends on the browser and what plugins you have assigned for various file types.

So here's what I did:

For whatever reason, if I have AdBlock enabled, video doesn't show up (I even left the house for 5 hours and came back, no video)

So I turned it off, and got video:

and when I enabled it, and searched for m3u8:

Thanks for your help. Knowing you were able to get the m3u8 lets me know its possible, and I'm going to keep at it because that m3u8 is all I need. With jdownloader I can download the mp4 no prob. Just finding the playlist link is the challenge.

Again, any help by anyone is appreciated.

Try to use the Web Console (press CTRL SHIFT K) of the Firefox Developer Tools to find the m3u8.

No dice.

stream_monkey did get the m3u8 and I was able to get an mp4 of it. I just can't replicate what he (or she) did.

I've got adblock. I'm searching for it. No luck. Developer tools. No luck.

If it's not too much trouble, if anyone can provide screenshots of their workflow it'd be a help.

Developer tools must be opened before the video starts. Try to reload the page.

made sure I opened tools first. entered the link. waited for media to load.

nothing.

put adblock on.

nothing.

is it firewall/antivirus related? OS? Because it works. Just not on my computer the way it's set up.

Again, can't think you guys enough for the guidance.

Which OS are you using?
Which firefox plugins (flash or other video plugins) do you have installed?

Do you get an output of web console or adblock plus without the the filter m3u8?

I don't use Firefox so it's as is other than adblock

I'm really not sure what's the problem, so this is just a guess:

As far as i can see from your last screenshot are you getting the video over HTML5 (i'm getting it over FLASH, because my system is too old and has no full HTML5 support).
Maybe the HTML5 player plays unlike the FLASH player not the HLS (m3u8) video but the MP4 video.
So you can try to search/filter for mp4.

That there is also a MP4 video can you see in JSON file which is created by the API.

thanks to all who assisted and happy new year. I've been on a spree grabbing files and why I didn't come back.

jsons lead to m3u8's and originalmp4's and thecube has been solved.
