Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place (staticThe DVR has default IP and port 80 do i have to change that you mean no i think
# Set router to forward chosen port to internal IP address of DVR. For example: route port 80 to 192.168.1.10. # You have a static IP so you don't need to use sevices like www.dyndns.org How can i set the router to do that And for educational reason i have create a hostname in dyndns.org how can i set it up |

Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place (staticEvery router is different. There are no any general instructions on how to set up all of them. Manufactures always provide manuals so you should refer to them.
Using dyndns.org with your DVR
Then if your IP address changes, DVR software sends the data to dydns.org and updates it. This allows to access your computer from remote location by using not a weird IP address, but a user-friendly hostname. p.s.Please note that routers can also be configures to work with DDNS (instead of configuring DVR software, you can configure your router). |
Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place (staticI am trying to connect through ADSL router. but i got the message "failed".
in DVR, should i use DHCP, static ip or whatelse? what IP should I assign for DNS host? in ADSL router, again, what is the IP that should be assigned to DDNS? Please Please Please reply |

Have you set up your router to forward data to a DVR as mentioned above? |

Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place (staticHello, I am in the same train, but got a problem that is giving me a headache, I'm connected to the internet using a 3G PCMCIA card, and my provider is not giving me a public IP address, what I see as my IP over the internet is different than the IP I see in my computer for example using IPCONFIG, I tried connecting to a dyndns and also using a VPN with no luck, is there a way around this? how can I get an IP that will direct me inside my computer not having a public IP address?
thanks very much |
Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place (staticLet me revisit this problem I have been trying to solve for months. I have the DVR set up and can see it remotely through a Static IP address on the computer that is in the office. This computer is connected directly to the router box and then to the DVR. What I cannot do, is connect to the DVR from any other computer at home. I have tried setting up a VPN, but was wondering if being on dial up service is the problem (Cannot find DVR). I will be getting 768 speed DSL in two day and will try again to recognize the static IP, but still don't understand the concept. The DVR software says that only two remote computers can connect at the same time. Why only two and is the DVR already one of them?

Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place (staticI have the similar problem with you. I can see the VCR in the same network (At office). But I dont know how to see from home. What should I type in the internet explorer my home computer to see CCTV at office netwrok. Thanks

Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place (staticYou should set up the router to forward packets from the chosen port to your DVR. Then you type the IP address of the router with the forwarded port to see the DVR from a remote location. See the first post of this thread for the detailed instructions.

Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place (staticsetup: DVR hooked up to 2wire wireless modem router
i have a broadband connection using dynamic ip (PPPoe) hooked up a dvr to 2wire wireless modem router registered a dyndns DNS tagging it to my PPPoe ip address setup up my DVR DDNS setting with my dyndns DNS account login and password setup my 2wire wireless modem router with the correct port forwarding for DVR (disabled wireless function) everything went on fine, enter url with the DNS and i was able to remote view my CCTV via DVR but... in a event of power interrupted, 2wire modem restart and i cant remote view my CCTV anymore. any solution or steps i have missed out. or something i should take note about dynamic ip principle in order for my CCTV DVR remote view to be correct. how do i ensure or set my DVR setting to auto update ip address in the event of PPPoe ip changes to dyndns account according so i can remote view with the dns i registered? very troublesome to go down to site to check the ip address of the PPPoe and reset the dyndns DNS with the new ip address before it works again. and some time i have to reset the 2wire modem and remove the port map application and redo and create a new port mapping for the DVR please help... urgently... site is too far and troublesome to go down each time modem got rebooted thanks! |
Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place (statici got a advice from a friend on instruction how to setup the DVR for remote view.
take a look and let me know whats your professional view? 1. Static IP setting - change gateway value with gateway value from broadband connection details - change DNS value with DNS value from broadband connection details 2. port forwarding setup on the modem router - example "192.168.1.10...... port 80 to 80" 3. remote view by entering PPPoe ip address but i skip all and entered DDNS setting with the dyndns DNS account info and DNS url and got the remote view to work back home and anywhere until power interrupted and change the ip |

Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place (staticOK, Edren
That is what I have been looking for. The power went out and when I try to view, I get DVR not Found. I read what I could find about Comcast static IP. It told me that because the computer was using Vista, I had to jump through a bunch of hoops (hate VISTA) and release the IP and then renew it. When I did that, it actually 'automatically' changed the IP in the config setup on the DVR program. I changed it back to the original static IP that I was given by Comcast. When the power went out, was the Comcast static IP actually changed? How does that work? Can I change it by releasing and renewing again because I have no clue what it changed to. That computer was sitting beside the DVR. I still was unable to ever connect via the computer at home. I am now wondering if that is because I don't have Comcast at home and a firewall is blocking me? |

Ask your ISP whether you can get a real IP address or port forwarding. |

I am trying to set up my camera so i can see it from external location. I have a dynamic IP so i created the DynDNS account and went through that configuration......I have a LJD Deltaware Camera and it came with an application I can install to view the cameras. I want to know if I can use this on a WEB INTERFACE because I want to view it online from anywhere instead of having to install this software all the time? When i try to go to my HostName it comes up with error so is there somehting I need to do to see it on IE7 or Firefox etc rather then using that application? I have the 8 channel Dedicated DVR - http://www.adata.co.uk/default.asp?t...28Deltawave%29 Thanks Pranav |

You can use port forwarding of your router for accessing your DVR or something else. |
Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place (staticQuote:
Set up a static ip - to have it static the last octet has to be under 100 set up a port number most defaults are 80, 8080, 7000 etc log into your router do port forwarding on the corresponding port number for your DVR. go to whatismyip.com write down this ip type in http://the ip you got from whatismyip.com:port number EXAMPLE: http://208.173.132.83:7000 This will allow you to remote view your DVR through your network ip This is a WAN IP the 192-196 ip you get from ipconfig is a lan ip and only used within your network, you will NOT be able to connect to this port through theat IP address. You have to use the IP off of whatismyip.com |
Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote placeQuote:
for remote view (outside of your network) type in http://your IP:your port number assigned to your dvr - this port has to be forwarded or opened in your router example http://208.173.281.12:8000 your remote connection IP will NOT be a 192-196 number. these numbers are assigned inside of your network only |
Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote placeQuote:
You do need to use the IP address of a router. By "your IP address" I meant the IP address of the computer when the router is not used in the home network. I should have admitted that this is very unlikely in case of using a DVR. |
