RTMPexplorer - rtmpsrv/rtmpsuck/rtmpdump GUI for Windows

he guys

I am enthused follower of the rtmpdump project.
I like the way to download videos with rtmpdump.

Im a windows user and sometimes i must use rtmpsrv for downloading, but the handling of rtmpsrv on Windows is a "a little bit" complicated (editing the Hosts-File and so on).

I solve this problem by created a Programm the "rtmpexplorer".
This is a little internet explorer which routs all rtmp-traffic to the rtmpsrv.
Advantage:
- no search for rtmp server address
- no edit host file

Install:
- Copy the rtmpsrv.exe to the rtmpexplorer.exe
- Copy the rtmpdump.exe to the rtmpexplorer.exe (automatic download)

Usage:
- Start rtmpexplorer.exe
- Browser to your video site
- see how rtmpsrv/rtmpdump start to work

Requirement
.net Framework 4

Link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/449917464/rtmpexplorer.zip

I hope this tool make the use of rtmpsrv/rtmpdump easier.

Re: rtmpsrv/rtmpdump GUI

RTMPexplorer

A clarification of the o/p's above explanation -

RTMPexplorer routes all rtmp traffic to rtmpsrv.

Advantages:
- No need to search for the host/server address
- No need to edit the HOST file

Installation:
- Copy rtmpsrv.exe to the same folder as rtmpexplorer.exe
- Copy rtmpdump.exe to the same folder as rtmpexplorer.exe

Usage:
- Start rtmpExplorer.
- Type the URL address of the video site into rtmpExplorer, instead of typing it into your normal browser.
- Click the 'Go' button in rtmpExplorer.
- The download may appear to keep restarting, but actually this seems to be an automatic RESUME function. This adds to the partially downloaded file, it does not overwrite it.

Requirements:
Microsoft's .net Framework 4 (requires WinXP SP3, Vista SP2, or Windows 7, with a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM).

It works for RTMP streams, in tests I ran on a friend's Windows 7 laptop today.

Is it an open source project? Does this program support RTMPE protocol?

VirusTotal hasn't detected any malware:

@chap
Yes that ist correct. The problem is that rtmpt, rtmpte not operate on Port 1935. I try to solve this Problem.

@Ed999
thanks for the new explanation

@Stream Recorder
I dont know just try it.
Currently the Project is not Open Source, but i can explain you how it works. Maybe it will be Open Source in the future.

Hi!
I started rtmpexplorer.exe, and rtmpsrv worked properly, with the video displayed in rtmpexplorer, but now i don't know how to record the streaming video. Moreover no command line neither address appears in rtmpsrv window. Can someone explain me how to please ?

Sometimes you can save even more time by using programs like Replay Media Catcher 4 which allow to rename videos automatically, rename and tag songs, fix downloaded videos, convert audio/video files.

Yes, but the RMC does not support RTMPE, and this is a big minus.:(

This is really frustrating. Every software developer of commercial software has problems supporting RTMPE. If you know how to overcome Adobe's restrictions, please let us know.

Are you sure you are running the program on a supported Operating System?

This program requires Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista Service Pack 2, or Windows 7, with a minimum of a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM, and you must have Microsoft's .NET framework 4 software installed.

If you run the program on an Operating System for which it is designed, it saves the rtmp file automatically, saving it in the directory ("folder") which the program is being run from.

p.s.
rtmpexplorer doesn't support RTMPE as well.

RTMPdump.exe supports recording RTMPE streams. This is why Adobe tried to suppress it. I use RTMPdump v2.3 on Windows 7, and it is able to record rtmpe streams.

As always, rtmpsrv.exe is the key to obtaining the url which rtmpdump needs. Every website that uses rtmpe seems to use a slightly different approach, so there is no standard set of switches that you can use with rtmpdump.

It will need different switches for each website (although probably every stream on a particular site will use the same format/combination of switches).

If you are running Win XP/Vista/7 make sure you have the very latest release of rtmpdump and rtmpsrv (release 2.3) because older releases become useless very quickly - the most popular of the target websites appear to regularly implement changes that are intended to defeat rtmpdump.

Thus release 2.2 no longer works on some sites, but release 2.3 does currently work on almost all sites.

I don't use rtmpdump.exe, since GUI RTMPE recorders for Windows work most of the time. And even when they don't work, I use rtmpsrv and rtmpsuck in Ubuntu, not Windows. rtmpdump 2.3 can be installed from the Ubuntu repository with ease. And a couple of lines allow to compile the latest versions of rtmpdump, rtmpsrv, rtmpsuck in Ubuntu. I haven't seen any success in running rtmpsuck in Windows without using commercial software.

I did try it though on newmusiclive.ca, but it stalls at "Streaming on rtmp://0.0.0.0:1935" and I don't get any output at all. I might give it a shot later on another computer, perhaps.

Re: rtmpexplorer - rtmpsrv/rtmpdump GUI

RTMPexplorer allows to download RTMPE streams, check post#7 in the PlayMe-thread:
http://stream-recorder.com/forum/pla...usa-t8576.html

There i have posted a screenshot with rtmpexplorer in action with rtmpe. PLAYME definitely uses rtmpe technology and in the past, StreamTransport was able to download them. Not anymore. But GetFLV and rtmpexplorer can download PLAYME streams.

Re: GUI's for rtmpsrv/rtmpdump : Rtmp Explorer, ...

Hi,

I have used RTMPexplorer and it works very well but is it possible to develop a gui where you can enter multiple urls, a sort of batch mode I guess?

It gets a bit long winded entering each url one after the other. If this is too difficult then possibly a bat file that I can edit?

Help would be greatly appreciated.

:)

Hi mulltonne, are you able to offer an update on this? Your program works very nicely so far. It'd be great if you're willing to release the source code. I have a few additions I'd like to try and would be willing to contribute :)

Thanks,
tRon

Why do you think that RTMPexplorer has become open source? The last statement was that this could happen in the future:

Re: RTMPexplorer - rtmpsrv/rtmpsuck/rtmpdump GUI for Windows

Hi. Thanks for a great program. After trying various stream softwares unsuccessfuly a month in frustration this one allowed me to download from bigflix, a classic movie not found on dvd and uploaded from an old video cassette convert. The only issue is it fails some initially and a few re-tries gets it going. I want to know how to resume download after it times out. The movie I am downloading timed out twice and it had to be resumed fresh. How can I continue from where it timed out without fresh download?

Post edit: I got the whole DL when my net was faster between late night and early morning. It works best with faster net connection or lesser net traffic. That said I just need to know what code or process allows to resume a stopped download. Thanks.

Could be faulty installment of .Net4. Ensure the version you are isuning is .Net_framework_v4_0_30319. if you have this version try re-installing/repairing. Ensure RTMPexplorer is in the same folder as RTMPdump, rtmpsrv, rtmpgw, rtmpsuck, pmdump, EasyHook.dll, EasyHook32 [or 64 as case maybe for OS].dll and librtmp.dll in C Drive. Use your default web browser to ensure fast sniffing. It should work without hanging up. Windows freeze indicates OS issue or problematic software install. With rtmpexplorer you don't need to run CMD directly.
