Sorry -- the way that worked on this thread before I never had issues but all of a sudden I do so I'd appreciate any help.

What did you enter as your full code string into the command window?

Still add "best" in there before -o. Should work.

Re: Anybody want to crack the new code of WatchESPN streams (with 7 bars of quality)?

Ahhh...I've figured it out.

Before, in URLSniffer, we were grabbing the "content.uplynk" m3u8.

It's now "content-ause1.uplynk" (or "content-ause3.uplynk" and probably other numbers, too)

Here's what my updated protocol is, and it works.

Instructions:
1.) Bring up your video you want to capture
2.) Bring up URL Snooper
3.) Ensure the Must Contain field in URL Snooper states "content-ause"
4.) Play the video—stop the video (close the viewer browser window) immediately when the URL Snooper collected the various URLs.
5.) Bring up livestreamer in the CMD prompt
6.) Create and enter the code:
livestreamer “hls://enter the URL from URL Snooper here” best –o name.ts
Remember:
--No space between the //and the URL
--End the URL with “
--Go over one space and best –o name.ts (could be lsu, vatech, etc—some term you can remember or find easily)
--For the URL, ensure you enter the URL that in the Protocol column, states:
http m3u8 file
(remove the x, p, or w in front of http should there be one)

We already know how to download the old (current) method, for most WatchESPN videos (RTMP Dump Helper works, as does Replay Media Catcher). However, the 2nd of the two screenshots below, does not work for either RTMP Dump Helper or Replay Media Cather, at least it doesn't work when using the same procedure (maybe a different procedure will work?). Notice the difference between the two screenshots below. One has 4 bars, the other has 7 bars of quality. Several of the newer videos and the SEC+ videos on demand have 7 bars of quality and seem to be impossible to catch the stream and download it. But maybe someone can help. I'm not interested in recording off the screen (I already have Replay Video Capture, but prefer not to use that for ESPN streams, as I like catching and downloading the stream much better). Take this video link from below for example (if you have WatchESPN, please feel free to check on this yourself) .... Here's the link to an example of an ESPN3 video that can't be downloaded?: http://espn.go.com/watchespn/player/_/id/2569576/ Notice how after clicking on that link above, there are now 7 bars of quality, instead of 4 bars. Now, I know a lot of the current ESPN3 (WatchESPN) videos still use 4 bars of quality. But I have a feeling that these new videos with 7 bars of quality will be the standard going forward at some point. That means it's possible for those out there (including myself) that download videos from ESPN3, well we might no longer be able to do so in the near future, unless we can crack this code for the 7 bar ones. So far, I've had no luck with these newer ESPN3 videos, which also include all the SEC (SEC+) videos. Can anyone help? Thanks. Please reference the "blue" circle that is manually added to both screenshots below (it is hard to see at first), but you can see in the 2nd screenshot that there are 7 potential bars of quality in the blue circle. I don't even know if the quality is different, but the WatchESPN videos in which there are 7 bars of quality seem to be encrypted differently than the traditional 4 bar videos, and so far the 7 bar ones seem to be impossible to download. Maybe there's a way to download it going the m3u8 file route? I have never failed to be able to catch and download the 4 bar ones. But I have never succeeded yet in getting any of the 7 bar ones. As always, please feel free to help. Thanks. I just choose the best version from within and it obviously selects that version, so this way I dont have to use, best, worst, 720p, etc.

This just worked for the replay of the ND vs Texas game.

Ive had some success with grabbing the i.m3u8 file with it showing up at 720, best quality, normal playback speed but sadly no audio. What audio I do get is 1/4 speed with an average duration of 10 seconds.

Anytime I've used any links from URLsnooper, no matter the settings I give it, will end up being a 512x386 video that has some stuttering at times and sluggish audio or it tells me theirs no content/forbidden.

Oh and using the above method, I've literally just used the i.m3u8 link found through uBlock Origin, anytime ive tried to download it and open it in notepad++ theres nothing about quality. All links are either slices or calls, not seeing anything else in there.

Re: Anybody want to crack the new code of WatchESPN streams (with 7 bars of quality)?

I did a clean install of the computer I use for video capture recently (it was overdue), and of course, things arent working as well now, and Im getting the same results as some others. It looks like rather than getting resolution options (432p, 720p, etc), I just get live (worst, best), which tends to be some other odd resolution to start, and then changes midstream. I think this is mostly due to the first commercial being grabbed (rather than starting with the broadcast itself)...before, there were just empty spots where the commercials were. Any suggestions to get that commercial free feed still? (I was still able to do it two weeks ago/pre clean install, so I doubt something changed during that time on their end?)

I'm going to throw my hat in to the ring here and someone who recently capped the ND Texas game 2 weeks ago, but can no longer get anything to go through without constantly retrying to get the 720p and then when I convert it to mkv handler it bombs out around 7%, I can't play the original on my computer either. Prior to this I had a batch file that ran everything through no hitches at all. I've tried the suggestions here with no luck.

Let's try this game

http://www.espn.com/watchespn/player...ize/condensed/

Using urlsnooper I've been unable to get just the http m3u8 file prototcol. It's usually an e, p, or a t in front of the http in the protocol column.

thttp://content-ause2.uplynk.com/multiple/4b6e45126fc744ec80c918f8a52f06a9,4e6c5f5d54cc422a9 e3dc5b7d6e5424d/i.m3u8

I remove the t from the url and paste that link in the livestreamer. I'm trying the i.m3u8 because that has always been the 720p resolution. My livestreamer command is this

Code:

livestreamer "hls://http://content-ause2.uplynk.com/multiple/4b6e45126fc744ec80c918f8a52f06a9,4e6c5f5d54cc422a9e3dc5b7d6e5424d/i.m3u8" best -o "%location%\%filename%\%filename%.ts"
I get the following forbidden error.

Attachment 452

I have done some digging and if I search by content.uplynk like before I find this address for ehttp m3u8 file

ehttp://content.uplynk.com/ext/d09b1.../multiple.m3u8

If I take that url and remove the ",a19297719_1/multiple" leaving just the following

http://content.uplynk.com/ext/d09b16...a19297719.m3u8

If I enter that in a browser I can download the file that has all the resolutions.

Attachment 453

Open it with wordpad and you'll see a section for 1280x720 and it's the i.m3u8

Code:

#UPLYNK-MEDIA0:1280x720x30,high-31,2x48000
#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1,RESOLUTION=1280x720,BANDWIDTH=5423261,CODECS="mp4a.40.5,avc1.64001f",FRAME-RATE=30.000,AUDIO="aac",AVERAGE-BANDWIDTH=4599404
http://content-ause2.uplynk.com/4b6e45126fc744ec80c918f8a52f06a9/i.m3u8

I try that url in the livestreamer command and I get the same forbidden error. I downloaded the i.m3u8 file and the link the I'm seeing in the error for failed decryptor is the EXT-X-KEY inside the I.m3u8 file.

If I try the livestreamer command with the url

Code:

http://content.uplynk.com/ext/d09b16c953aa40c98dd8c513526aca5a/a19297719.m3u8
the livestreamer command needs to be used with hlsvariant then so I use this livestreamer command and I still get the forbidden error BUT I see the resolutions to pick from instead of just live (best or worst)

Code:

livestreamer "hlsvariant://http://content.uplynk.com/ext/d09b16c953aa40c98dd8c513526aca5a/a19297719.m3u8" best -o "%location%\%filename%\%filename%.ts"
If I use the following URL I can download the video, but I have to check to see if I got the 720p version because the I can only pick live best or worst. If it's not the 720p, I kill and retry until I do get the 720p version. Once that is finished, I can't convert to the mkv container either, it bombs out around 7 percent with no errors. The ts file appears to play fine though from what I can tell, audio and video are in sync no artifacts.

Code:

http://content-ause2.uplynk.com/multiple/4b6e45126fc744ec80c918f8a52f06a9,4e6c5f5d54cc422a9e3dc5b7d6e5424d/i.m3u8?rn=131178096&linearv=4&ad.csid=watchespn:desktop:e3ads&ad.ulbd=1&eid=a19297719,a19297719_1&ct=a&ad.kv=_fw_ae,975cd70e2de25291acc0efc98a48935e,_fw_euid,4AD00149-3517-43C0-8EC4-FCF2BE085274&exp=1474982991&ptid=ESPN3_Events_VDMS&tc=1&oid=d09b16c953aa40c98dd8c513526aca5a&ad=e3ads&ad.caid=a19297719&euid=ESPN3_VDMS&sig=4bcd2f900a1b6326205e46a8dd93c2325a2368c62f2f3a9e8c732ef75aadb296&pbs=1dfc37bbe752470b93add5ca67363d49
The script I wrote for this worked flawless all last year and on the ND Texas NCAAF game this year a couple weeks ago. Not sure if I'm missing something or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
