Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place

Hello, first of all sorry for my poor english, i'm from greece.
I'd like to find a solution for something i'm trying to find a few days now.

I have a modem router which connects via 3g: tp-link mr3420
Also, a dvr by avtech...

I've set up the router setting for port forwarding, and i have access through my iphone and any device using 3g (i use dyndns hostname).

When i try to connect through the wifi of my home (modem airties 5440) i cannot connect to my 3g router, and get access for any of its ports. However, i have an access from any 3g device, using 3g network...

Do i have to change any of the settings of my home's router?

I've got a Clear Modem WIXFBR-117 and a DVR that I cant find the make/model from the box. The box states H.264DVR and also says 2MDVR-7008.

I'm needing to access this from my mobile android and iphones. Any help would be great.

I've tried using my real IP address, not the router provided, also tried the 192.168 address but neither will allow access from my mobile phones.

A simple way of doing it for private/home use is to download "Teamviewer" and use the free version to access your home pc remotely then use the local network address.

Once you have completed the Local Network Setup you should have an internal IP address for your DVR. The next step in the process is to forward ports pertaining to the DVR, so that you can see your cameras remotely.

After you log in do you get a blank page? Or can you see the full camera display without video? If you can see the display but no video in the boxes, you're going to need to download a video codec, and your antivirus or pop up blocker isnt letting it through most security codecs may not be electronically signed or microsoft certified and are quite often blocked from even giving you the option to download. This is most common with off brand systems but I have had the same issue with samsung security codecs when trying to view from a computer with high restrictions. I would check the brands website and see if they have video codecs available for download. If you are getting a blank screen then you may need to port forward a range instead of a single port samsung requires a range of 4 ports in sequential order. Ex. 5554-5557. Some routers allow you to open a range. Some routers you have to open each port individually.
