Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

Hi all,

I've been trying to download videos from YouTube as well as Hulu and have come across one problem. They constantly stop at 11% and do not continue downloading. Even when I click restart, it stops at the same point and never fully downloads the video.

Have the latest version of GetFLV. Am I doing something wrong?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Hulu has encrypt it's streams info with new method. GetFLV can parse it now.

GetFLV 9.0.6.3 isn't working with Channel Nine Australia (http://channelnine.ninemsn.com.au/video/fullepisodes). It detects the ads but not the actual programs.

Is "channelnine.ninemsn.com.au" RTMP or Silverlight?

Hey I'm running 9.0.6.3 (the latest version) and it keeps getting stuck while downloading from Crunchyroll. Any ideas? Specially when downloading larger files.

(using 9.0.6.6) had trouble with the RTMP Record feature last night while trying to capture a live broadcast from Ustream.tv. browser warns that it is "recording" when trying to close the window, and a file is saved, but the filesize is always 0-1kb. just a suggestion for future GFLV releases.

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

I purchased GetFLV about a month ago, and like it very much. However, I am having a problem when the filesize exceeds 2048MB.

I have emailed support several times and have not received any response, so I thought I might get an answer on this forum.

After using the program for a while, I have observed that once the saved file size reaches 2048MB, the status displays a large negative number. In this condition, the file will continue to download and the program has no problem with the actual file exceeding 2048MB. If nothing interrupts the stream, the program will continue downloading until finished and the status indicates 100%.

This is where the problem occurs. Once the file has reached 100%, after only a few minutes the program will reset the saved file back to zero length. The only way to keep the file is to either quickly copy it before the program resets it to zero, or to abort the program using "end now" in Window's program manager.

I would like this resolved because most of the videos I wish to download are over 2048MB.

I have a 8 core 3Gig i7 CPU with 3Gig Memory.
Windows XP SP3, updated recently.
Internet Explorer 8
Flash Player updated to most recent 11.1.102.55
650GB free space on Hard Drive.

Having trouble finishing downloads from HBOgo. Download will hang anywhere from 10%-90%. I have never been able complete a single download with this software.

Steps taken so far:
1. Reinstall flash
2. Reinstall getflv
3. Idle computer during downloads

Details:
Windows 7 x64
Adobe Flash v11.1.102.55
Getflv v9.0.7.4

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

In my experience with HBOgo and MAXgo, it appears that their server is throttling based on bandwidth. If I try to download a single movie, GetFLV reports a bandwidth of over 1 Mb/s. At this rate the movie will fail to completely download. I discovered that if I download several movies at once from HBOgo, then the bandwidth for each movie is around 200-300Kb/s. With this lower rate, the movies usually finish downloading.
I just have the problem described in my previous post that if the downloaded filesize goes over 2048MB, then GetFLV screws up and resets the downloaded file back to 0 Bytes. I wish someone from GetFLV would address this issue. Please let me know if you have this same issue on your Windows 7 machine.

Yeah I have the same issue as well. I just tried to download a full length film and did exactly what you said it would.

If you download multiple things at once doesn't it bump the quality down? I would also try pausing each download until I have a few of them queued, but when I try to resume a download it ALWAYS fails.

Also, my average download speed is 2.6MB/s.

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

Did you mean that you are also seeing the 2048MB limit?

It looks like you have a faster connection than I do. I don't know of another way to throttle the download speed. Ideally you could connect at full speed, and then limit the speed so HBO's server doesn't cut you off. I suggested this to GetFLV support but have had no response in over 2 months.

For me, the quality issue seems to have more to do with HBO's server and how busy the internet is. Usually in the daytime, it always auto picks a low res picture, but late at night I can have four hi-res movies downloading, each 3-4 GB in length, I often have the same movie downloading multiple times so if one stops working there are still 2 or 3 other copies that might succeed. (unfortunately I have to babysit them when they are over 2048MB so I can save the finished file before GetFLV resets it to 0 Bytes).

I might try to implement QoS for rtmp to manually limit the available bandwidth it can use.

When baby sitting files over 2GB how much time do you have to react before getflv resets it to 0?

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

You have maybe 1-3 minutes before the file resets.

On my system (XP) I can do a copy and paste of the file and that seems to hold off the file being reset until the copy is complete. I can also just force close the GetFLV program and it usually keeps the file from being reset.

Dear Scottie, Scottie:

Sorry for the "2048MB" problem.

We have been dealing with this issue for 2 months. However, we still can not fix it now.

What file system are you running now? NTFS or FAT32? FAT32 has the "2GB File Size Limit". So please convert your file system to NTFS and check your problem again.

If you are using NTFS file system, it must be a bug of GetFLV. We will try our best to fix it.

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

I have a windows XP professional system with NTSF formated drives.
Sprtnbit just verified that his Windows 7 machine also produces this error.
The problem isn't creating and writing the file, because getFLV can sucessfully write a 4 GByte file (It just erases it after the file download completes). It appears to be an internal problem with your program, where one of your variables has a 2048M limit. It is producing a calculation error when the size becomes greater than 2048MB.

Hi,

So I got GetFLV to download JV Player videos using Adobe Flash player but it only let me get 4 minutes of the download before asking I purchase pro.

Have I hit the limit?

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

Hey!
I think version 9.0.7.6 fixed the 2048MB problem!

So far I have been able to download 4 files >2048MB successfully, with the largest being 3.7GB. All the status info seems to be staying correct now until the file reaches 100%.

I did have a 5th file that completed, but only about 80% of the movie was actually there. When I re-downloaded the same movie, it completed correctly at 100%.

Thanks for fixing this bug.

The only other thing I would wish for, would be for a way to limit the download speed. It appears the HBOgo will cut off downloads if the speed is too high. It's like the server knows the speed is way to fast for someone to just be viewing the movie. ~1Mbit/s rate will usually always fail, where <300Kbit/s usually always works.

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

Hi

I have just installed GetFLV Pro as it was the only program that would download a Flash movie I wanted from Youtube. I was very impressed with the trial run although it only downloaded 10MB so I paid up and got the registered version but I have now run into the same problem mentioned by the last few posters.

My system is windows 7 and IE 8 with the latest flash player. Download speed is around 110kbs.

GetFLV easily detects the video stream and begins downloading. It then stops. Out of four tries I ended up with 14%, 21%, 30%, 11%.
The quality of the video saved is excellent but how do I get the whole video to download?

Hi there, I have GetFLV (v9.0.7.6) pro and I keep trying to DL from crunchyroll but it keeps getting stuck in the middle of DL and I have to restart the download which doesn't resume instead starts from 0 and downloads again. can you at least make it resume instead of downloading from 0?

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

My problem started 2 days ago. Before that it was fine. Now I can't download any video that's longer than an hour. Less than an hour, fine. But a film that's 90 minutes, the download freezes at around 70% every time. I tried a programme that was 1 hr 20 and it froze at around 78%. And it doesn't matter about the size of the file, even if I choose a lower bitrate version of it, it still freezes around the same percent. It's not the website either, as I have tried to download from several and it happens with all of them. I have tried downloading one video at a time, several at a time, high speed, low speed, I've defragged my pc, I've downloaded the latest version of getflv 9.0.7.7. and of flash, nothing makes a difference.

I am using XP and had not made any changes to anything before the problem started. I emailed getflv but they haven't replied.

Can anyone help me please?

subtitles (from Crunchyroll.com)

First, I am a paid customer, Golden version :-) and I want to thank you for one of the most useful programs that I have - one that I have tried and actually works for Crunchyroll.com. (I like anime.)

When I bought the program on 3th of July of last year, soft subtitles were not included with the download files. And a few versions later, my prayers came true - the SRT file was created by Getflv program.

If I may suggest that all the special effect in the SRT file can be omitted of formattings (no centering, no italic, no bold, or different coordinate) as I just want them to display at the bottom of the screen when I play them on my computer because I hate to see it jumping all over the place. If there were an option for that, it would be very welcome.

And I noted that some clips end up without the SRT file—and the subtitles themselves are embedded into the FLV file. (I'm not referring to hard subtitles, but the soft subtitles). How does the program know which clip to do that?

If there were a way to have them embedded into the FLV file directly, I wouldn't mind the formats above. But as suggested, if it's a separate file, can there be an option of saving no formatting at all?

And another option of just embedding all the soft subtitles into the FLV files themselves (like some of the FLV files are now saved), I can truly live with it.

And some people have suggested about getting rid of the "skin" settings. I am running Windows 7 64 bit with Intel i7 960 with 24 G of RAM and GeForce GTX 480 in (gasp!) the ugly Windows classic. I just don't like the flashy new interface.

And are you considering coming out with the 64 bit version (if it's not too much trouble).

Thank you again for a great program, and for very frequent updates.

I realize how hard everyone must be working on it on a daily basis and I thank you for your time.

Yours sincerely,

Pooky, a happy customer

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

Hi All,

I also seem to have a problem with downloading anything over an hour, both from hulu.com and from crackle.com. The file usually stops downloading around 60-70% complete (about 45-50 minutes into the video). If I stop and restart it the file will sometimes continue and sometimes not, if it does continue it may stop again before the end. I'll keep trying to restart it, but usually it doesn't work well. It took 6 tries to finally get a 2 hour movie off of hulu.

Also, on crackle.com the system doesn't try and reload the page itself, you have to do it yourself. After successfully downloading one video from crackle, I've tried two others numerous times but they never finish.

I don't suppose anyone knows of a way to start recording in the middle? :) I figure if it only does half at a time I can download the front and back halves separately and then stitch them together :D !

I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise and am using Get FLV 9.077.

Get FLV works great for anything under an hour, it's just those longer videos that are a hassle.

Thanks!

lausha 01-17-2012 03:23 AM

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

Update - managed to get the longer videos to go further by stopping and resuming the recording, however whenever they get to 99.9% done I get the following error message every time:

Your resume download need to reconnect video website to obtain authentication information. Do you want to continue?

Whether I click yes or no it stops.

Is there anyone who can help? Or anyone got any idea how I can get in touch with the getflv team? I've emailed twice, tried different addresses but nobody gets back to me. Thanks

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

the help comes and goes here. you may have to give it some time.

personally, i would suggest when it gets to 99.9%, stop the download (the file should still be saved in the download location), fix it with the FLV Fixer, and check the end of the video with your media player to see if you missed anything. a few black frames off the end of a movie cant be THAT irritating, can it?

lausha 01-18-2012 04:37 AM

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

Thanks, that's very helpful. I was presuming that not getting to 100% meant that the video would not be "completed" or therefore playable. If it only means missing a fraction of the end of it then that's not a problem. Thanks for your kind help, much appreciated.

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

I am a recent buyer of the latest Get FLV software, and it is not going well. My problems are twofold:

1) When visiting a site (say ABC.com, it is constant no matter the site) I will get the list of possible rtmp streams to download at the bottom of the screen. When I choose one to download, it will briefly switch to the flv downloader screen, where nothing will happen for a bit and then the app will crash. Note RTMP Record Mode is unchecked.

2) If I have the RTMP Record Mode checked, it starts the download. It will always, without fail, fail to finish downloading. It just gets slower and slower until it dies. Then it will start over, rinse lather repeat.

I downloaded this and bought it 2 nights ago and have not had a single successful download of a movie.

I have sent a message to GetFLV support via their website and have yet to get a response.

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

back to lausha's problem, i am now having the same problem as well. it didnt occur to me that id never tried to download a stream longer than 44 minutes. downloading a 1h 33m movie is getting irritating after the third try. im going to HOPE that i can pause/resume the way lausha did to get it to 99.9%, but the first two tries made the filesize jump from 900mb to 2046mb (or something close to that number), and the download never proceeds from maybe the 800mb point. (yeah, about 87 percent like the others.)

EDIT: yup. it jumps from like 903mb to 2756mb, even after pausing and refreshing the page a few times to get the video back to the correct bitrate. the resumed download is claiming to download around 25-30 Mb/s. this continues to slow down gradually, while the download stays at the same 807mb (i think about 88% when paused, now 29% because of the new 'resumed' 2756mb filesize).

i suppose theoretically that refreshing the page ends the uh... i dont know the word that im thinking of... refreshes your 'script?' so that the REST of the video is now on a different URL? to me, (if i can word this correctly) it seems like were not able to download the video fast enough before whatever page were using refreshes the stream URL. while just viewing regularly, it may just quickly buffer to the new URL, or may not even be noticed. has anyone tried downloading their 1-2gb file on anything faster than DSL? it took me about 20 minutes to get my 807mb. maybe with a faster connection, the time to download would beat the time for the site to refresh.

anyway, there just needs to be some sort of pause/resume function in GetFLV that downloads from the original URL. we just keep restarting the download for some reason. or yeah, as someone suggested, find a way to download the first and whatever other portion separately then splice together. piece of cake.. if it were at all possible..

That jump occurs since GetFLV v9.0.6.3. Just install the older version GetFLV v9.0.6.2. I suppose a bug sneaked in since GetFLV v9.0.6.3, which either isn't quashed yet or even detected by the authors.

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

well, im going to stick with what i have for now. like i said earlier, i VERY RARELY download anything longer than 44 mins.

i was able to get the rest of my movie by letting the first file get to 88%, stopping it and pausing the video. using the 'resume' option on this site, i was able to get the rest in 3 small segments with the 'Record RTMP' feature in GFLV. (i ended up not getting the credits; the process became a hassle. the video is just for personal viewing so i could care less about getting a complete version.)

now its just converting to AVI to edit. so it IS possible, its just a HUGE inconvenience.

You could try to install both recent version and older v9.0.6.2 in parallel into different directories and use older version for downloading bigger files. As the resume function works there in v9.0.6.2 reliably, even when the connected stream server decides to stop sending stream data (on heavy load), you could resume as often as you want. This way you could achive a complete file, instead of fiddling with different FLV files and editing them as AVI.

Re: GetFLV - Troubleshooting many problems with GFLV ...

I am running GFLV 9.0.7.9 under 64-bit Windows 7, and I am trying to download free Amazon instant videos. I have the problem reported earlier of the download starts and then stops after perhaps 20% of the file has downloaded. Clicking stop followed by start does not make the download continue. It acts as if my copy is not registered.

How do I find an earlier version that does not have this stopping problem. I have saved version 9.0.5.1, and perhaps that will work better. I presume I should completely uninstall my current version and do a fresh intall of the older version followed by a registration.

How do I get the 9.0.6.1 version? Is it archived somewhere?

Any suggestions or comments will be greatfully received.
