Re: Recording Amazon Instant Video On Demand (VOD)

Thanks a lot chap. I can download AIV's with RTMPdump too! And the result looks slightly better than GetFLV's because the FLV doesnt need any fixing, congrats!! a working free vpn is pptp.freeusvpn.com (Hotspot Shield doesnt work well here!), good luck everybody.

Maybe the RMTPE-url's are (in a certain way) static url's which dont expire. Maybe we can run some tests and compare, for example for
Amazon.com: Grey's Anatomy [HD]: Season 7, Episode 18 "Song Beneath the Song [HD]": Instant Video
i get:

RTMPDump can download Hulu and AIV's now too. So why have we purchased expensive GFLV product? :confused:

( btw, the episode costs 99US-cents only. so plz dont be so tightfisted ;) )

how do the files "look better" than with GetFLV? The files are identical.

Re: Recording Amazon Instant Video On Demand (AIV, VOD)

subinbar, do a side by side comparison of the (two) posted media info for this particular TV-episode (*.FLV). you'll see that in the media info of GFLV's download result the video time length piece of information is missing. THIS MEANS THAT GFLV's *.FLV FILE NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

on the other hand it should be true that, if you extract the audio & video track from the two flv's, both results (GetFLV vs. rtmpdump) are 100% identical.

As you know, "FLV" is just a container (or wrapper) like zip/rar/mp4/etc. When you stream download ("capture") FLV's with any known rtmp recorder, the container gets slightly damaged. That's what the FLV fix tools are good for. Surprisingly, rtmpdump downloads perfect FLV-files with 100% intact containers.

In the end the container's content matters. GFLV and rtmpdump preserve 100% intact and identical contents (=audio + video track), so no need to worry if you downloaded FLV's exclusively with GFLV. at the end of the day i prefer using GFLV too! has a beautiful looking user interface (blueish colors :cool: )...

Ahh ok, I understand what you meant.

Doesn't matter either way, I extract all streams and re-mux them in Matroska.

tested. After freeware RTMPdump 2.4 and shareware GetFLV, TubeDigger is now the third in line who can download the full-length AIV's for FREE. the below screenshots demonstrate that i have completed the Full HD video download and what the video quality/download is like when you leave the HD-button(s) turned off.

This AIV thread serves to demonstrate that the AIV's are not protected against direct downloading. It should not serve to encourage you to abuse it. Respect the intellectual property and buy the AIV's properly from amazonDOTcom! :p

Surprisingly?? Anything worth doing is worth doing RIGHT. ;)

It would be laughable if Amazon withdrew the buttons for the rest of our teenage lives only because of us SRF kiddos. It simply means that they are afraid of SRF community and our tools. Victory, we win!!! :p

@Amazon.com
You lose. Are you too afraid to put some (updated) buttons back in place? We are going to h*ck you again, this ain't news. :D

@SRF community
It's summer, it's vacation. School's over (highschool, junior college)! Let's do something more fun, call our mates, play some ball or go swimming. Or maybe travel the country, visit beachy places :cool: When school's back on in September/October we'll check back on this topic. If we're lucky, the buttons will be there again and we can continue our AIV stream recording.

Was a great recording party so far, thanks Amazon! Now skewl's out so let's enjoy SUMMER VACATION!!
