Thanks for the lack of help and the softwares (actually, three pieces of software in two operating systems) that did not work. I do not recommend DeDRM to anyone. It's most possibly a malware and does nothing to remove DRM! DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT!

alkopop you did not give any details as to what kind of book you are trying to work with or what errors you got. How can anyone provide help with no details? I just downloaded the v4.8 tools (thnk you Jhack for the link) and with calibre 0.8.45 on WinXP was able to dedrm my ereader .pdb files successfully, so at least one of the tools does work.

I have used both Calibre and DeDRm for a kindle on pc book and neither work. I have the plug-ins for calibre in there and I added the .azw to the library and it didn't work. Both Calibre and DeDRM just give an image of the cover. Please help, I paid for a book I can't read!

As far as I have seen, it works on mac OSX 10.7, but does not work on 10.8.

DeDrm plugin from Calirbe didnt work for me.

But i found This this works so if anybody needs it.


1. install active python

2. Unpack that zip file and Now go to folder
DIR :\tools_v5.1\tools_v5.1\Other_Tools\KindleBooks

3. run KindleBooks.pyw there

and then select the amw book file and there you go you can now import that book into Calibre without problem and do what you want with it there, its decrypted.

Awesome, I have been looking for a tool to dedrm Kindle for Android content. I'm really happy to find this, however, it does not work in my case. The readme says to pull

/data/app/com.amazon.kindle-1.apk

from the phone, but I have:

/data/app/com.amazon.kindle-2.apk

I tried it anyway, but of course the patch failed. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps I could downgrade Kindle?
