Yeah - you know what's what. SAB is the nuts. ;)

P.S. Spasticus, consider trying out some of the better NZB sites (I use NZBMatrix, as caruthers rightly said). NZB functionality removes the need to know what groups each BIN has been upped to - & makes downloading whole seasons, etc. a one-click process(!). Binsearch is also a good aggregator & will do the NZB creation for you.:)

No worries, I've uploaded the Pilot for you, let me know if you have any problems getting the file: http://mir.cr/THQH2KES

BTW, ditto with regard to Janine, she's well cute - there's a hilarious scene between her and New Man in this pilot! Enjoy :)

I thought I would register to give my input. I too wanted to download a 4OD episode, but nothing works. The new version of GetFLV only records the adverts, even though the video plays. And this CooJah. The installer appeared to be in a foreign language and when I did guess and install it, it crashed every browser it was linked to. Both chrome and firefox could barely even load before crashing to desktop. Internet explorer didnt crash, but it didnt play the videos either.
Any other software based ideas?

Re: www.channel4.com (4od), www.channel5.com: UK Recording Problem

i was using StreamTransport to download from 4od and itv player for months, but lastnight i notice its no longer working..

the only uk site that still works is the bbc iplayer. im wondering if its the latest update to flash thats killed it because i find it hard to see how every single streaming service will change at the same time.

i used Hotspot Shield to try some american sites and its the same problem with them too..

im going to downgrade to a different flash version and see if that fixed the problem.

i might be wrong about the flash update, i dont really know a lot about how it all works, but if streamtransport is really dead its a very sad day indeed.

I have a feeling that StreamTransport is dead or at least has been beaten.
I too have been using Stream Transport for 4OD with issue for months and this week it has stopped working. However I have, today, tried a number of other programs and NOTHING seems to be able to download 4OD.

Does anyone have a method that works with programs shown 23/3 that has worked today?

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

I'm having the same problem with 4OD and ITV player. BBC iplayer is still working at the moment. I wonder if someone is selling an anti-video capture "solution" to the networks, and the Beeb (BBC) is taking its time getting clearance to pay out for it. It seems weird that both channels have suddenly stopped working this week. By the way, I have the old version of Flash, so the upgrade isn't the problem.

I guess we have to wait for someone to come up with a way of beating this new streaming technology. But while the Beeb still works, I'll be grabbing as much as I can before it stops working too. Sad week, so much still to grab.

I'm trying 8.9.9.9 now and so far it's been running 30 minutes and hasn't even found a file size in the downloader - let alone downloaded anything :-(

It did find 2 streams with different URLs (same title) which I'm trying to download without success.

BBC works fine (just to check I'm set up correctly)

I installed GetFLV, and the same thing as Iknownothing happened to me. But at least ITV player played in the browser window - it just makes StreamTransport freeze up. Nothing appeared in the bottom panel to actually start downloading.

I tried a few videos from this page, and nothing.

Its interesting that CooJah has also stopped working with 4OD and Channel 5. I've been using StreamTransport for the last 2 months, and its worked beautifully every time, until this week. Nothing.

The TV stations have done something to stop everything working. The question is - will there be a race to get a fix out?? I hope so. I hope this isn't the end of streaming capture, but for now it is the end :(

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

yes, CooJah has stopped working in the last week or two.
Very disappointing. I just can't get my head around the rtmpdump method etc
and if I'm reading some of these posts right anyway, that isn't working either for what I am wanting to download - as above Channel 4 and ITV Player.

When CoolJah is open the video won't play [it gives message about technical fault].
When I close Cooljah the video plays.

Annoying - all I want to do is share a few progs. with some ex-pat online friends, not make any profit.

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

i think we all need to face the facts that its come to an end.
im suprised that StreamTransport lasted so long, when you see all the problems other people have had with adobe..

on 18th feb a site admin on the other site said that the developer had just been busy with other projects and thats why it had not been updated, but i cant imagine him wanting to rework his magic now to fix the new problems..

there is talk about them releasing the source code so someone can pick it up and try make it work again, lets just hope they continue in the spirit of the freedom and dont try and charge for something that might brake again.

i've checked it.
i dont live in UK so i used a primitive proxy of type B1. then surfed to this test url (Benidorm episode):
http://www.itv.com/itvplayer/video/?Filter=225652

GetFLV caught some url and downloads it all fine.

if you live in UK and GetFLV doesnt do anything useful for you, then it's because you use a demo version (or a cr***ed version). from my own experience they simply dont work. a purchased version of GFLV will work. see screenshot above. StreamTransport is very similar to GFLV, with the difference that ST is freeware and updated seldom and GFLV, in contrast, a commercial piece of software. GFLV is updated very frequently (more than 1x per month!) and that's what you pay for: a working solution. i like ST .. but it's no good if it aint work, is it? ;) (When you place your order for GFLV, please refer to "placebo" and you'll get a discount coupon ;) )

@getflv
you're welcome. i herewith did the testing yet for the _www.itv.com website. am glad to help (you). :D

just an observation, itv.com is less protected (or difficult) than hulu.com. With Hulu, my B1 proxies dont work shit. I dont live in the States, i cant play Hulu videos. I dont live in UK but i do can play iTV videos.

i am just saying that ST and CJB dont work here, but a purchased version of GFLV does. so everyone buy a copy of GFLV!! :)

(or learn how to dump the video with rtmpdump. Rtmpdump *always* works with *any* website. Including Hulu! And rtmpdump is FREE. it's just nothing to play with for softies.)

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

@ placebo thanks for the info, although ima little bit reluctant to pay out for software without seeing it in action for myself.. i would have thought the whole point of a demo would be so people KNEW it did exactly what they wanted before the pay for it... even if they fixed it to say only download 3 times before running out ,atleast we could then try it on 3 different channels.

have you tried hulu using Hotspot Shield?? i never have any problems connecting with that from the uk...

as for getflv i think im just gonna hold back and wait a bit untill more people can guarantee that it works..

placebo 03-27-2011 10:43 AM

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

yeah, there are different conceptions of "demo software" and i would go with yours too. GetFLV's demo version is too restricted, i must admit. i will post more screenshots of GFLV in action (on the iTV.com webpages) later on.

Hotspot Shield? i will try it (downloading now HSS-1.57-install-anchorfree-238-conduit2.exe), for the sake of trying. thanks for the tip!

you may wanna post some current url (itv.com) and i'll make a screenshot, no prob. :)

EDIT: hotspot shield works fine, great, thanks! GFLV works fine too with Hulu! :D

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

@placebo

yeh i loved Hotspot Shield with StreamTransport.... i even used URL Snooper and cookies to block all the advert urls in the hostfiles so i didnt get all the annoying intrusive adverts over stuff..... i had it all set up perfect, thats why im not happy with ST being dead lol

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

thanks
I'll have to post it later [after about 10pm GMT], as the programme isn't starting for about another hour, runs from 7:40-10pm GMT, so it's quite long [as it's the Final tonight].
It's usually in 2 parts over the evening with results coming after an hours break.
Is it ok to name the TV prog. or will that alert searches of the wrong kind?

P.S. I'm thinking - if I have the url of the vid. maybe Blader will still download it

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

you can pm me the exact url of your episode (when it's online on the website).

yes, Blader (it is a chin*se frontend to/of rtmpdump.exe *FYI*) will be able to download it, so go ahead and try on your own.

if you need a screenshot of GetFLV how it downloads your video, i can do it.

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

by the way, i dont know if you guys are familiar with this site at all http://www.tvcatchup.com/ it streams the main UK channels live and is not rtmpe and the quality is quite good..... so if there was something u desperatly wanted to capture you can record it as its transmitted.....

you have to register an email but dont need to verify it so u could make one up if you really wanted....

know it aint ideal, but thought some people may not know about it...

i managed to capture it with Replay Media Catcher so im pretty sure any will be able to record from it.

placebo 03-28-2011 02:23 AM

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

testpage url (for part 2) is:
_http://www.itv.com/itvplayer/video/?Filter=225898

This UK's show's finale was broadcasted yesterday and posted online in 2 parts. As the screenshots show, i have downloaded both parts without problems. With a purchased version of GetFLV.
Again as a reminder, the demo version does not work!

So please no more bitching about "My GetFLV doesnt capture anything! My GetFLV doesnt download the ITV streams!! Büüäähh!!!". :p

I know this is petty but I (for one) am not prepared to pay for a piece of software if the demo does not work - otherwise what is the point of the demo?

The latest version of GetFLV (Version 9.0.0.0) is (again) able to download CHANNEL4 / 4OD videos, such as
Code:

http://www.channel4.com/programmes/supersize-vs-superskinny-kids/4od/player/3173283
the full-length streaming url is something like the following and includes your ip address and downloads either through port 1935, 80, or 443; the streaming server is ll.securestream.channel4.com or ak.securestream.channel4.com or similar:
Code:

rtmpe://ll.securestream.channel4.com:1935/a4174/e1/?ovpfv=1.1&e=1301305313&ip=93.96.179.128&h=4db6b4ec4d0b2b7e1e46d9f892875e2a/?e=1301305313&ip=93.96.179.128&h=4db6b4ec4d0b2b7e1e46d9f892875e2a
rtmpe://ll.securestream.channel4.com:443/a4174/e1/?ovpfv=1.1&e=1301342335&ip=178.238.142.242&h=36aca5121fb2a95a96a2bceb48a19cd0

Then GFLV captures all kinds of different rtmp/rtmpe streams, some url's for the commercial ads and ~2 url's for the actual video. Try to download the 2nd video url! Two typical situations are the following (and delete the ads url's!):
,

Typically only one video url downloads well. And, you can download several videos at a time (here: Come Dine With Me)

, ,

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

channel4 is a bit harder than itv. so here another proof (screenshots), ta-rah!

GOOD NEWS. getflv posted an updated version on their website (today!!):
GetFLV Version 9.0.0.0,
and with it i was able to download the video!!

the FIRST (line#1) and the LAST line (line#6) belong to the same (actual) video clip. the url's in between, lines #2-#5, belong to the ads (commercial clips of ~40secs length). i waited until all ads were gone and until line#6 appeared. then "Download" and GFLV begins to download the video without problems.

GFLV downloaded the following url:
Code:

rtmpe://ll.securestream.channel4.com:80/a4174/e1/?ovpfv=1.1&e=1301338326&ip=178.238.142.242&h=b7e0c6f007f45b95f92a06f11929438f

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

I just want to thank Placebo for grabbing something off ITV Player for me on Sunday night [despite it being late]
He used GetFLV - I might look into it as nothing else seems to work any more.
I just cannot get my head round this rtmpdump thing, even though I have downloaded all the bits and pieces for it, including something called Strawberry Perl, but I can't figure it out and just haven't got the time or concentration to learn at the moment

the only thing is, the videos I got in flv just wouldn't convert to avi or MP4 in Daniusoft Video Converter Ultimate, or Any Video Converter Professional - and the first one usually handles anything.

So I had to use ConvertXtoDVD to convert the flv's to DVD format
and then use Auto Gordian Knot to get avi from them so I could join the 2 parts - as you can imagine, this took many hours and I couldn't use my computer for other things while it was being done,
but the quality was ok [infact the quality on the original flv was excellent, I was quite surprised]
so thanks again, Placebo

@nonprofit, thanks for your report and kind words. was a pleasure to help (since, maybe, not too many own a purchased copy of GFLV.); just the FREE proxying thing (i've tried various types A, B, C, etc.) was killing me :p

Conversion of media files is discussed here:
http://stream-recorder.com/forum/con...files-f16.html

Conversion causes a degradation of quality (because none can be better than the original ;) ). To minimize quality loss, the video and audio tracks could be extracted losslessly with FLVExtract and then you could put them back together joined in a *.MP4-container or *.AVI-format. Replay Media Catcher can do conversions and extractions too .. but these itv FLV-files are quite something! I've never done joining of video parts before so i cant help here. I would probably try to do everything in Nero 10.

you can join FLV-video parts with FLV Joiner (freeware):

WM Capture 5 can capture video from screen into DVD-Video .ISO file. No need to convert for hours.

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

I only had to do that because I wanted an avi actually [to upload for someone who is abroad and can't see ITVPlayer]
although I can use the resulting DVD files now to burn a copy for myself

I've tried a screen capture thing and the frame size was confusing to me, and how it kept mirroring/reflecting what it was doing [sorry, I can't explain, but it's not the way for me]
