I just joined this site and would like to know how you did this as I too have the same problem. A friend has sent me 5 epub files for books and I have the nook for pc but Don't know what to do now. If the DRM was removed I could actually read it from Calibre. The nook program wants my friends email address and password for adobe digital to open and I wont ask her for personal info. Do you have any suggestions.

It is not possible to remove the DRM without that personal info to generate the decryption keys.

None of the drm removal scripts actually breaks the drm, it just removes it using the same keys and algorithms as the official reading software.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the info. My spouse unknowingly purchased books from B&N, for her Sony, and was unable to read them. We thought it was going to be a waste of money, or that she'd have to sit at the PC to at least read them once, Until I found this site via Google.

Now she can keep it on her e-reader Since I found these instructions. You know she wouldn't have gotten her money back for not owning a Nook. Uggghhh!

I purchased almost all of my books with gift cards, do I put the gift card number or my CC #?

If you are using a gift card, your key will still be your name and the default credit/debit card for your account.

Apprentice Alf and Stream Recorder - thank you so much for these scripts and advice. I am now able to use B&N, Sony, Amazon etc to buy books and can read them all on my device of choice and share them with my wife (who uses a different device). I also know they will remain my files and available to me to change / edit / use as I wish. Much appreciated!

PS: to other users - I've also noted some B&N nookbooks are not encrypted - so this apparent error doesn't matter, just go ahead and import them to your reader of choice.

I have used the scripts several months ago and they worked fine now when I try to decript a book I get "error3 while decompressing invalid distance too far back

This is probably a stupid question, but it's the only thing holding me back from taking advantage of this sweet deal.

Does the fact that I'm providing my credit card information increase the likelihood of me getting caught by any quantifiable amount? Or am I just paranoid?

I purchased and loaded a prepaid Visa to my B&N account to use with a gift card. Then I threw the cards away. So how can I remove the DRM without knowing my CC#?

I used these tools and everything worked great! Thank you for providing them.

I have one book, however, bought with the same account, using the same name and credit card information, that, no matter what I do, it comes out as gibberish. Every other book I converted using these tools comes out completely unencrypted. When I put the 'gibberish' book into Calibre, it tells me that it's DRM encrypted and unable to read. Is this a different DRM format, even though the book was purchased through B&N? Is there a way to tell what format this book uses?

I have a few Barnes and Nobles books I just can't get the DRM removed from. I have tried the tools provided and no matter how I type in my name or CC# I get an error saying: Error AES improper key used.

I tried to use the windows only key retrial script but that always gives an error saying install not found.

Any ideas? I don't want to have to re buy my books or download get them from other means when I have already paid good money to get them on my Nook.

I too have been unable to remove DRM from a newly purchased B&N ebook. I had no problem a few months ago but now I get the error message: error - 3 while decompressing: invalid block type.

Many thanks for any help you guys can come up with.

OK, really basic question. I am trying to remove DRM from my Nook epubs in Calibre with the plugins. I am a little confused and need clarification. When I log into my B&N account, it is with my email. The instructions for the plugins indicate "enter name on account, a comma, and CC # with no spaces". If I enter my account login email and the CC it fails. Do you actually enter your NAME (first and last with space), a comma, and then the CC number without spaces?

I will answer my own question: I went ahead and changed email to my actual name and, viola, the DRM is removed.

I created an account to update this thread. I used this mentioned steps and could not remove DRM. I created another key and instead of putting my name as John Doe, I did it as JohnDoe and I was able to decrypt my epub. Hope this helps.

I have a Nook Tablet. I purchased a book through the Nook B&N store ON the Tablet..it was immediately downloaded to the Tablet..but, when I look through the file system on the Tablet for the file..I cannot see it! It's there, because I can read the book on the Nook Tablet..But I'd like to remove the DRM from the file if possible, so my wife can also read it on her Ipad.. sooo.. where can I locate this E-pub book file ON the Nook Tablet? It's probably in a hidden file somewhere. Any help is much appreciated~
