DownloadHelper is in fact first choice for noobs like you :D . I had been using it for years -- it is the most popular Firefox plugin ever AFAIK!! -- until i bought something really good: All Alex Inc.'s WM Recorder.
And later on i bought more and more download tools. The only missing is Kevin Wang's NetTransport. I have serious trouble with getting it work on a clean Windows system. But that's another story.
In the end it's a question of money. If you possess enough money, you'll be able to afford ~10 tools. And together they'll download any internet stream. For you.
