Sorry, there are only 5 programs I know that can capture RTMP packets. I usually recommend Replay Media Catcher and Jaksta, because they are very reliable and offer nice support. However when they fail to record something, I try to suggest other options.

When I click on a user at chatzppl.com and then select "View the user's cam and mic" I can download the stream with Jaksta. It downloads just fine if I close the cam in my browser. It is also interesting that when I turn on RTMP recording instead of downloading, Jaksta doesn't detect any streams from chatzppl.

Replay Media Catcher shows an error that the connection was rejected by the remote host. The developer of RMC always suggests to use screen video capture software for live video streams, so I don't think the problem will be fixed anytime soon.

sorry, if i sounded a bit harsh. it's also bit difficult to explain.

chatzppl isn't a reliable source to test the avchat software. from time to time the flash server there has massive problems. when this happens recording of streams is indeed possible. it looks like this is currently the case. however this isn't normal and only works until the admin restarts the flash media server.

i'll reply again when that happened. if you can still download streams then i would be very confused. thanks for your help so far.

you can also try Bit Recorder,it can capture packets as well though saving flv file has some problems

Chatzppl has been restarted, recording streams now fails again. Using Jaksta the normal way causes Jaksta to stop the recording after about 2MB. Enabling "alway record RMTP streams" only produces a still image. But it's useless anyway cause the recording stop when I stop watching the stream.

BitRecorder acts like it would record but only works for one stream and the saved flv file only has a few bytes

I can see now. I can't download it with Jaksta, because it stops after downloading a couple of megabytes. And I can't record with it either. The next version has some fix for RTMP recording, so it may solve the problem.

Flv Downloader works just fine until I hit the stop button. For whatever reason it crashes while trying to save a temporary file as an .FLV file.
