i reinstalled iviewripper & it still comes up with the same error. It seems a windows error & not an a/v program popping up. i'll have to check the log of what was changed or removed. I remember it flagging imgburn as dodgy & it isnt. so i must've missed the iview one

i initially scanned my computer as the USB was playing up (wouldn't recognise sticks or a portable drive)

now i decided to look up the error "a device attached to the system is not functioning"& found this

i checked the device manager & sure enough the USB is an exclamation mark again.

i reconnected the external drive - it popped up straight away & went back to usb stick, it also popped up straight away, with no usb error in device manager, so maybe not reated to the iviewripper error?)

but how would this affect iviewripper? it isn't set to use the usb at all.

I used 3 programs, Windows Defender, Malwarebytes Antimalware & Combofix.
MBAM detected & removed a heap of files from AskPartnerNetwork toolbar & a couple of registry keys for 'Teoma' - nothing seeming to be related to iviewripper.

Windows Defender only detected 2 trojans on the external HDD & removed them

Combofix did a heap of stuff - combofix log doesn't show anything to do with iviewripper (at least nothing shows when searching iview.) what other programs or dlls are used by iviewripper?

@Palewing, where do you download shows to, from iView?

If it is the external USB-connected HDD then that will be a problem.

In any case, I would disconnected the external HDD and do a scan of your entire system, preferably a thorough rather than Quick, using Windows Defender. Make sure Defender has updated its data files first.

Windows Defender is my anti-malware software of choice for the last 3+ years (Windows 7, 8.1, 10). I long ago abandoned McAfee and Norton, and used AVG free for about 3 years before switching to Windows Defender.
Microsoft has been too nice to the anti-malware companies for about 10 years.

Once you have your main drives free of malware, it may be a good idea to do a system check using SFC. More about that later, if needed.

I don't believe the problems PaleWing is having are related to iviewripper.
I don't think this is the thread for those problem. Not even the right forum.

Hi folks,
I'm finding Iviewripper is becoming increasingly unhappy. It usually loads up ok & d/ls the index but only allows you to view the details of a few programs before crashing. It also crashes when you try to d/l a program, but after reloading one can download a program .. but crashes again if you tray a 2nd. A very painful & slow process. Someone noted this on the Sbsripper forum, but no details nor a fix. Anyone have an idea? I have 2.42, which is the latest version AFAIK, running on win7pro-64.

Just a followup ... I d/l the latest ffmpeg build (nightly, static, 27 Dec 2016), extracted out ffmpeg.exe, re-named it ffmpeg_64bit.exe & replaced the version in the iviewripper program folder & not only did that fix the stability problems but it also sped up the dls. Since iviewripper uses it's own specially named copy of ffmpeg in the iviewripper program folder, that's the one you need to update for iviewripper.

just to the Downloads directory on the main drive. It's working fine now, other than the occasional problem 'unable to download for some reason'
yet sometimes, these shows show that error & 5 minutes later, they download fine? Sometimes it's when i'm downloading 5 or 6 shows already, which I took the error to mean that it's too many shows downloading at once. I love the schedule function, wish SBS ripper had it.

(only posted previous posts because iviewripper was the first time i saw the error - when i saw it happeneing to lots of others, i looked elsewhere for info. turns out turning the computer off & on again fixed it O_o)


Are there any plans to get the HD channels ABC is launching soon? (or maybe already launched)
