Old freeware version of Net Transport no longer downloads RTSP .rm, .ra Real streams

Obviously software developers try to show the most relevant error message. Whether this message is the most relevant or is showed by mistake, there on point to discuss it, because it won't solve the recording problem itself.

I have been having the same problem for a few weeks now.

I have been downloading BBC .ra from .ram files for a couple of years with no problems.

Now I get a write to file error on Windows XP Pro [Main PC] and XP home [Notebook].

I use NetTransport normally - I have tried NetTransport v.1nn and v2.nn both giving problems.

Have also tried Orbit but still getting corrupted downloads.

Either MS have changed a setting in Windows - which seems most likely, or the providers are all using a different format

Used to be able to convert to MP3 via StreamBox Ripper but not any more.

Looks like the answer will not be found here, can anyone suggest a place to look for it?

I have no any problem recording rtsp:// real media streams with the latest version of NetTransport.

I repeat again that old freeware version is no longer supported so I don't see any chance to solve the problem with it. Just download the latest version or use other software.

If you have any stream URLs that give you the write to file error you can post them here or send to the developer of Net Transport.
