Grooveshark: How to Record Audio Streams in Rapid Time on a Mac?

How can audio streams be recorded in rapid time?

Right now, I am able to record an audio stream using Audio Hijack Pro, but I have to wait until the audio stream plays through in real time.

How can I download the stream in a quicker fashion without waiting for it in real time?

Thanks.

You can download on-demand streams much faster than in real time using software like Jaksta for Mac.

What web page do you try to record from?

Okay, I've now tried Jaksta for Mac, and it doesn't seem to actually work. Have you got it working?

I open the Jaksta program, click on the Start button, start playing a song in Grooveshark, and the Jaksta status window goes into "monitoring" mode. But nothing happens with Jaksta after that.

I am using the demo version of Jaksta for Mac 1.0.0, but it is supposed to actually work in a limited capacity. I'm on Mac 10.6.6, Snow Leopard and Firefox.

Thanks for any tips.

Try to close Firefox and Jaksta for Mac. Then open Jaksta and start recording with it. Then open Firefox, navigate to Grooveshark and start playing a song.

Also please try to download any video from Youtube and let me know how it goes.

I've now followed your instructions by opening my demo version of Jaksta, but I find that it starts monitoring or recording all by itself so I don't have to initiate this process.

Then I opened Firefox, navigated to Grooveshark and started playing a song. Unfortunately, Jaksta doesn't seem to acknowledge Grooveshark at all. I tried the same process with YouTube and experienced the same negative results. I also tried this same procedure with the Safari browser but the results were identical. In addition, my Mac firewall is turned off, and I have cleared the cache for both browsers.

Admittedly, I am new to using Jaksta, but the process seems so simple that it's really puzzling as to why it just doesn't seem to work in my case.

Sorry about that. What version of Mac OS do you have?

Will try to find more software for Mac.

Re: Grooveshark: How to Record Audio Streams in Rapid Time on a Mac?

I finally managed to test Jaksta for Mac again.

After installing it on Mac OS X 10.6.2, I had problems detecting stream URLs. I rebooted Mac and got much better results. All songs from Grooveshark were detected properly. I didn't have to clean the cache of my browser even when recording songs that had been played before. Tried the latest Firefox as well as Safari. Didn't notice any difference.

The only problem I had is that some songs were not renamed and tagged automatically. But this is a limitation of the song identification service used by Jaksta.

To solve your problem, the developer will probably need your log file. To create it, you need to go to Jaksta -> Preferences... -> Check "Enable Debug mode". Then start monitoring, go to web-sites you have problems with, then send the log to the developer.

Many thanks, Stream Recorder, for verifying that Jaksta for Mac, indeed works for Mac version 10.6. Even after a reboot, my Jaksta for Mac doesn't work, so I've sent a log file off the Jaksta support. Hopefully they will have a solution. Thanks again for your interest and support.
