when choosing any web script you should always consider the following things besides quality and price:

• community around it that allows you to solve your problems with the script, find additional modules, mods and plug-ins
• support
• will it be developed in the nearest future
• source code available

Even high quality scripts lose their poularity. For example, UBB Threads was a very popular forum, but I hardly see it beeing used these days. The most popular forums are free phpbb and commercial vbulletin and IPBoard.
