converting mp4 and wmv video clip files to play on dvd player

I'm new to this and kind of in a scramble and have been searching for how to complete an assignment. In my job I have been assigned to convert various video clips that are in mp4 and wmv format to dvd so that they can be placed in stand alone dvd players for training. Each dvd will have from 4 to 7 clips on them and ideally I would like to be able to have a menu selection screen automatically come up when I place the dvd in the player which users can arrow to the titles of the clips and select for playing. This is for non profit so except for the dvd burner and dvd's to burn on I need to try to do freeware if possible. Hoping someone can give me some direction on what I need to make the conversion on format to set this up right.

if the standalone dvd player can read those mp4 and wmv media files. have you tried transcoding it with virtualdub using Xvid and MP3?

For converting MP4 and WMV videos clip I'm using Format Factory software. Any types of Videos, Audios, and Pictures want to convert I'm using Format Factory software. For me, it is the best software for converting.
