Re: Calibre DRM Removal Tools no longer work with Kindle ebooks ...

Hopefully there is someone more knowledgeable than me still reading this thread.

I'm new to the world of ebooks. I have an off brand ebook reader and so far, I've been reading epub books I've downloaded from Gutenburg Project. But, I have a couple of free Kindle books that I would like to read on my ereader.

So, I've been reading all I can about de-DRMing a Kindle file but nothing seems to be working (including python scripts which I know would be another thread).

I've tried every suggestion in this thread about installing the plugins into Calibre and opening the book from my Kindle for PC application. Still is DRM.

I was using the latest version of K4PC, but have downgraded to 1.4.1. I'm running v0.8.36 of Calibre and v4.7 of the tools package. I have Win Vista 32 bit.

(If it makes a difference, I've never been able to get them to work.)

Please help!

I'm not very knowledgeable about this. But perhaps i can help you. I've gotten everything to work on Calibre except TAN files which are HTMLZ files and some other format as well.

I've not run into any problems removing DRM from Google books with the few I've purchased.

Send me a private message or an email. Maybe we can figure something out.

Re: Calibre DRM Removal Tools no longer work with Kindle ebooks ...

i just bought a ebook from Kindle for my PC ... i dont really like reading them in Kindle .... so i tried using Calibre to covert it into a pdf format ... but the DRM is stopping me

ive read some of the posts here ... and basically its all gibberish to me

i figure im really new at this .... the only time i use Calibre is to change th formats of the books i read (eg. epub to pdf)
if that makes sense

soo i was really hoping someone can help figure this out

if i cant get it right .. do you think one of u can do it for me if i send a copy of the book to someone .... or wouldnt it work?

Download the latest tools from here: http://apprenticealf.wordpress.com/2010/02/

Follow the instructions about adding the pluging to calibre here:
http://apprenticealf.wordpress.com/2...the-perplexed/

Remove the DRMed ebook from your copy of calibre and import it again. You should now be able to convert it.
