Burning HD (1080p) FLV to Blu-Ray with high quality?Have been downloading a series of full HD (1080p) flv videos that I eventually plan to burn to blue-ray. I am expecting great quality as a result, but after reading about flv to DVD being inferior, now I'm a bit concerned. What will the quality of the videos be like in blue-ray format? The full HD files now seem to be about 1 GB in size. Just curious and appreciate any response. Thanks.

Re: Burning HD (1080p) FLV to Blu-Ray with high quality? If you just burn an FLV file (HD 1080p or SD) to DVD or Blu-Ray disc, nothing happens with its quality.
If you need to burn MPEG-2 videos to a DVD-Video disc you can choose between software that converts the videos (thus losing some quality) and software that can do it losslessly (we suppose that we don't need to change the video resolution when burning). A similar situation is with Blu-Ray discs. If your FLV files use MPEG-4 AVC video codec, you can create a Blu-Ray disc with MPEG-4 AVC video without any conversion. However some programs will lose some quality during the conversion (even if they don't create a Blu-Ray disc using MPEG-2 or VC1 video codec). |

Re: Burning HD (1080p) FLV to Blu-Ray with high quality?Actually I don't really see much sense in converting videos. Nowadays you can use a cheap network media player like WD TV Live that allows to play videos from a USB Flash drive, portable hard drive, from your network,...
You may need to remux FLV files into MP4 or MKV files for using on such a player, but this can be done losslessly, fast and for free: FLV to MP4: Remuxing FLV files with freeware FLV Extract and mp4box / yamb |

Re: Burning HD (1080p) FLV to Blu-Ray with high quality?Actually I just came across that WD TV Live unit in a search yesterday, as well as a few others all at Newegg. I decided to try this unit which supports FLV directly:
ASUS HD Media Player O!Play HDP-R1 HDMI Interface - Retail I'm about to purchase an LCD HD TV which has HDMI input of course, so if this player works out and I have good quality I won't need to bother with Blu Ray, at least for a long while. |
