Hi!

I believe this problem has not been addressed here, yet.
Since yesterday, at least that I've noticed, some videos from VEVO on Youtube can not be downloaded by the usual methods.

For example, this one -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0oyglKjbFQ

Neither VideoDownloadHelper (Firefox extension) or web sites as KeepVid/SnipMp3 can capture that media stream.

I tried using rtmpdump (binaries compiled by KSV), but rtmpsrv/rtmpsuck not detect anything.

Maybe somebody smarter than I can find what is happening here and, hopefully, share a workaround...

I can also confirm that as of a day or two ago, they started uploading a new undetected stream protection on Youtube.

Here are a couple examples.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jtMbtq8wT0

In my case, I couldn't find anything relating to rtmp or any other protocol I recognized through Wireshark.

Thanks, that was very nice of you!

But would not be reasonable to expect that you, and/or other advanced members of this message board, would take such hassle up themselves, at every time that I, or someone else, encounters the same difficulty...

So, any ideas about what Youtube and VEVO are cooking here? And how to get around this?

Thanks for this working plugin, but as the Google Chrome web store doesn't support plugins that can download Youtube videos, it's only a matter of time before this is pulled.

Does anyone have a Firefox method, or an understanding of how to use Wireshark (or similar) program to get the download parameters for whatever download manager we use?

The latest version of Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm) is working fine with this as well.

I need to update the link above to show info about RMC5 (which i'll be doing this week), but for now you can visit http://applian.com/download-videos/ for more specific info

MassTube_11.1.0.624b1 (http://www1.datafilehost.com/d/cd46e61d)

(uncheck the box before "Use our download manager and get recommended downloads" in order to get file without the garbage install wrapper)

MassTube home page (http://www.masstube.cl/)

(homepage download link has garbage install wrapper, use datafilehost link above for wrapperless file)

These download okay with TubeDigger (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/TubeDigger-streaming-audio-video-downloader-recorder-Adobe-Flash-Player-streaming-HTTP-RTMP-RTMPE.htm). It's not free, but it's well worth the money.

Tested with Replay Media Catcher 5 (http://applian.com/download-videos/) as well - worked fine :)

YouTube is converting to adaptive streaming. The new links are contained in the page source, as are the old format links. But both require some massaging to work correctly. Unfortunately the old links that have been converted now give a 403, and I have not figured out the changes required to make the adaptive links work. Can anyone help solve this puzzle?

I tested it with Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm) too and it worked great!

I think the new format is something called "Ajax". youtube is in the process of making this the default. If you go over to the Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey "userscript" site, you can see a few ongoing discussions on working around it. Maybe you could help troubleshoot some of the issues?

http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/25105

The above script does/did work for Firefox and Chrome.

Further to my previous post (http://stream-recorder.com/forum/showpost.php?p=62669&postcount=12), I've noticed that TubeDigger sometimes needs a couple of attempts to download from YouTube as it now does the video and audio as separate files. It occasionally gets only the video, or only the audio, or the video twice.

In version 4.5.5 added bitrates detection for YouTube. And of course there is still method for separate downloading of audio and video tracks, and then muxing them together.

I just had to download a new version of MassTube because the old version I was using finally broke.

the latest installer gave me no option to decline adware by installing all of them without asking me. note: MT_Install uses "BetterInstaller". your experience with it depends on what it downloads when you run the installer.

I was looking into why it broke and noticed that it reports itself to YouTube as IE7 (but that wasn't the reason it broke)

to avoid getting adware installed, treating the installer as an archive file is probably the way to go
