Replay Music (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-audio-stream/Replay-Music-record-any-web-radio-station-or-streaming-music-service.htm) is the best software for recording music from Spotify. It allows to split, tag and name files automatically. It can also put all your recorded files into the appropriate folder.

Unlike many other Spotify recorders, it records music directly from Spotify, so you don't record any background noise or any audio from your sound card besides songs from Spotify.

It is very easy to use Replay Music to record songs from Spotify:

Download Replay Music (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-audio-stream/Replay-Music-record-any-web-radio-station-or-streaming-music-service.htm) and install it.
Launch Replay Music
Hit the "Settings" button.
On the "Input" tab choose the directory to store your recordings.
Spotify songs will be placed into the directory after recording.

On the same tab, select the "Audio Driver" as the "Input Source". This option allows you to record songs from sound card without any background. It also allows you to record audio on sound cards like Realtek, Sigmatel that doesn't have the Stereo Mix / Wave-out Mix option.

On the "Output" tab change "File name format" if you like. I prefer to use the "%A - %T" template, so that my MP3 recordings look like "artist_name - title_name.mp3".

On the same tab select "Record to MP3" and change the bit-rate to 192kbps (Spotify uses the bitrate of 168kbps and we are a slightly higher one). Also select the VBR (variable bit-rate) for better quality and smaller filesize.

Close the Setting windows.
Note that you need to change the Setting only once.

Start Spotify and find a song or playlist that you want to record. But don't start playing yet.
Note that you need to start Replay Music before Spotify.

In Replay Music hit the "Start Recording" button.

Enter "Artist", "Album" if you like. Change other settings if you need.

If you want your recorded songs tobe added to iTunes automatically, mark the "Add tracks to iTunes" checkbox. Hit the "Ok" button.

Start playing music with Spotify.
Replay Music will record your songs from Spotify. It will also split them, tag and name automatically.

If Replay Music didn't manage to find ID3 tags (artist,title,...) for a song, you can right-click on the recording and select "Tag track" to try to identify the song again.

You can also edit tracks manually by hitting the Edit button.
Enjoy your MP3 recordings on any player!

Spotify Ripper is a freeware direct sound recording software that allows to capture music from Spotify (Windows).

Spotify Ripper can record audio from select sound cards.
The last know version is 0.1.1 beta. The program is still not very stable. But it is free and it allows not only to record music from spotify, but also to split and rename songs. Spotify Ripper records into 128 kbps mp3 files.

Download Spotify Ripper
http://www.spotifyripping.com/Spotify_ripper.rar

How to record music from Spotify with Spotify Ripper

Download Spotify Ripper and extract the contents of the archive.
All recorded music will be saved into the same folder where the Spotify Ripper resides.

Start Spotify and make sure there are no music tracks playing.
Start Spotify Ripper by launching "Spotify Ripper.exe".
Mark the "Logg" box. A small window will appear on your screen, telling you the status of your recording process.
Hit "Hitta Spotify". This will allows Spotify Ripper to be connected to Spotify, so that Spotify Ripper can rename recordings correctly.
If everything went fine, you will see the "Spotify hittat" message in the log.
Hit "Rippa". This will make Spotify Ripper wait for Spotify to start playing a track and start ripping it while it plays.
When a song ends, Spotify Ripper will convert the track to an .mp3 file which will be renamed automatically. Simultaneously Spotify Ripper will be recording the next music track from Spotify playlist.
Hit the "Rippa" again to stop recording from Spotify.
You can go to Spotify and select playlists, tracks or albums that your want to play. Spotify ripper will record them while they are being played.

Please note that any background sounds and noises will be recorded by Spotify Ripper. It is highly recommended to to turn of system sounds, close any instant messengers, e-mail clients or any programs that can produce sound that you don't want to record.

If Spotify Ripper doesn't work for you, try starting Spotify Ripper before you start Spotify. You can also and restart both Spotify and Spotify ripper.

If Spotify Ripper doesn't work for you, you can try Replay Music (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-audio-stream/Replay-Music-record-any-web-radio-station-or-streaming-music-service.htm). The latter program can record music even if your sound card doesn't have the stereo mix. It is compatible with Windows 7/Vista/XP. And it can record not only from Spotify, but almost from any online music service and Internet radio station.

Party's Over! Spotify Seriously Limiting Free Usage...
Thursday, April 14, 2011

Spotify is now taking further steps to limit free access in Europe, a move designed to convert more premium users, boost profitability, and satisfy label concerns. "Above all, this means we can continue making Spotify available to all in the long-term," Spotify CEO Daniel Ek relayed early this morning (midday from Europe). Here's a quick summary of the changes...

(1) Users will be limited to 10 hours of free listening a month, instead of 20.

(2) No song can be played more than 5 times without a premium account.

(3) Changes happen May 1st, and 30-day premium trials will be handed out during that month.

(4) New users can enjoy Spotify in its current form for 6 months before feeling the changes. Those who joined prior to November 1st, 2010, will feel the changes now.

In a blog entry (http://www.spotify.com/int/blog/) this morning, Ek identified heavier Spotify users as a chief target of the changes. "The changes we're having to make will mainly affect heavier Spotify Free and Open users, as most of you use Spotify to discover music – on average over 50 new tracks per month, even after a year," Ek described. "For those of you using Spotify to find new tracks to enjoy and share with friends, these changes shouldn’t get in the way of you doing that."

And of course, Ek added that Premium and Unlimited users would not be affected.

spotify is boring, that's why i never did a review of their service. with proxies of any type class (A, B, C) you can use their service without problems .. but spotify is boring, that's why i never did a review of their service. oops, havent i said that already? sorry for repeating myself :D The casual music listener is better off with Deezer.com (no proxies needed), it has no limitations and sound quality is great. No installation needed (although you could install deezer.exe software).

How to extract Spotify music tracks to play them offline?

hughes.michel@yahoo.com
06-21-2011, 08:58 AM
Dunno what to say about the extracting spotify music tracks thing, depends on what u mean by extracting Spotify music in the first place.

You wanna be able to only extract and save Spotify tracks to the hard disk for later listening or just recording Spotify streaming music to mp3 will also do the trick for you as well ?

If it's the second version, than I guess *** (Spotify Recorder) can help you on this. Doesn't extract anything, but it can capture and record Spotify streaming music to mp3 tracks on your hard disk. It's a pretty good Spotify recorder so should solve the problem in no time.

Download free Spotify software, be invited with Spotify and get an account for Spotify.
Start the Spotify Recorder program.
Change to "Capture" view.
Click "Sound recording with tagging" and click "Ok" in the window that appears. The Spotify Recorder program will now record any sound made by your computer.
Login into Spotify account or start a new instance of your Spotify Windows software(a new instance is really important. If Spotify is running already, close it and restart it, otherwise recording won't work).
In the Spotify software, play back the music you would like to record.
Please ensure that no other sounds are being made while the music is being played (avoid e-mail and chat sounds).
You can follow how music is automatically recorded, separated into individual files and tagged.
The completed files are then displayed in the player on the right hand side.
You may export the files by simply dragging them into a folder or into another application.
If some files have been incorrectly named or tagged, you can add tags manually by selecting the file and clicking "Edit ID3 tags" in the lower right corner of the player.

Breaking: Spotify Launching US-Based Version Tomorrow; Warner Deal Signed... (http://www.spotify.com/us/blog/archives/2011/07/14/hello-america-spotify-here/)
Spotify has finally arrived in the U.S.A.!! Maybe Applian.com can implement the spotify protocol in the Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-download-and-capture-streaming-music-radio-video.htm) appz? That would boast sales for RMC4 and Jaksta!

Please contact the developer and ask and let us know what he/she thinks about it, thanks.

Even if you could capture the streams, they are still encrypted. We would need some sort of method to capture AND dectrypt or the files would be useless.

The Spotify software is proprietary and uses digital rights management to protect copyright holders. Users who agree to Spotify's Terms and Conditions may not reverse engineer the application.[46]

Digital Rights Management = DRM = Encryption

If someone could crack the encryption it would be the holy grail of stream downloading. There are very few people in the world who could tell the difference between Ogg Vorbis at 320kbps and Lossless audio.

I really do not understand all of the different things that I have been reading. I am completely confused!!!

I have not downloaded anything yet to get music onto my iPod (http://all-streaming-media.com/links/ipod.php) from spotify yet or to get it onto my computer, but it is something I would like to do. From what I have read, there are limitations to this, but what limitation, I do not know.

I have the free spotify and I was thinking of getting Replay Music (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-audio-stream/Replay-Music-record-any-web-radio-station-or-streaming-music-service.htm). I want music for my personal use to run with. If I do this:

1- Will it suddenly stop playing because I have played it more times than allowed?

2- OR am I limited with the amount of times I can get music because I have reached my limit of 'listening' (copying) music?

3- OR does spotify limit in another way?

I appreciate that this thread is not concerned with the aspect of copyright, but I'm with @Devalish on this.

In the UK it's ?9.99 for a Premium account. That's all the music you want on your computer or mobile device, plus you can download it so that you can listen to it offline (as long as you use the Spotify software). That means I can listen to it on my PC, on my iPhone (http://all-streaming-media.com/links/iphone.php) and also through my car's bluetooth stereo.

If you're so poor you can't afford ?9.99 a month then you're presumably also too stupid to be able to either break Spotify encryption and / or too dumb to follow instructions from someone that has managed to do it. Back away from the Internet ...

Piracy sucks. The film companies are suffering because they are (currently) failing to embrace new technology and given that you can download a 1080p film as fast as your internet connection will let you from pirate sites, versus paying for films that take an age to come out and only allow 720p quality they're surely going to continue to suffer. Therefore, for the moment I hope they continue to suffer until they realise they need to raise their game and stop ripping consumers off.

Spotify has corrected this problem within the music industry and provided a quality product, with a quality catalogue at a fair price. I don't think that there is any excuse to pirate music any more. You're just a thief against that backdrop ... unless you can find a decent reason to justify trying to (and amusingly failing) to steal music from Spotify?

The only thing that I can think of (and it's WEAK argument) is that you don't like their music player.

What about playing music offline while keeping the subscription? Do you think it is piracy as well?

You are able to play music offline. You download it to your device (whether it's you PC, your phone, etc ...). You have to log in every 30 days to keep your offline content available. So no, it's not piracy as it's possible and there are checks in place to ensure that you don't download lots of content and then simply end your subscription.

Without trolling, the only reason that I can see for people wanting to copy music from Spotify is quite simply because they are thieving little gypsies. There's just no excuse now.

I have never seen a dollar from my work on this record, but the label still releases it digitally. Since it's a punk rock record, and I'm punk rock, I will never sue over it, but I want my effing music. So, I hope somebody has a nifty way of copying the track so I can have a copy of my own album. After all, I have been asking the record label for a copy of the CD for years, but they never gave me copies (except when it was released).

For downloading music from Spotify use Sidify (available for Mac versio (http://www.sidify.com/spotify/drm-music-converter.html)n and Windows version (http://www.sidify.com/spotify-windows/drm-music-converter.html)). The digital sound is outstanding.

seems like you're doing a commercial of the product... hope you get some money from that, at least :)))
the converter are one thing, but a standalone program WOULD BE much more appreciated.

I have been using this Sidify for a while now. It has been working fine although somwtimes i got the conversion failed. But it's still the best converter i've ever used.

I found an article review and a video review for sidify's spotify audio converter.

sidify's spotify audio converter review - article (https://drm-wizard.com/remove-drm-from-spotify-with-spotify-music-converter.html)
sidify's spotify audio converter review - video (https://youtu.be/9y-JB7kNmmo)

It happens that the error 1004 may occur while converting, but it usually can be fixed by converting again. Yeah, that's what the video explains.
