Hello,

I use WMRecorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/WMRecorder-One-click-online-audio-video-stream-recorder.htm) 11 for windows via parallels (http://all-streaming-media.com/non-streaming/Parallels-Desktop-for-Mac-OS-X-Run-Windows-simultaneously-with-Mac-OS-X.htm).

When I record webcast lectures (mediasite) streaming with wmrecorder 11, I get 2 files, .asx (i think a wmp playlist file) and .wmv

When I play the .wmv files in WMP 11.0.6 I have no trouble - everything plays perfectly.

When I try to put them on my external HD or on my Mac side of computer and play them on OS X tiger, I get video but no audio in Flip4mac, mplayer, divxplayer... and VLC opens the video, no audio, and displays this error message:
"main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `wmas'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format."

On the windows side, I don't actually see the extension .asx like I do on the Mac - it appears to be a WMP playlist icon with .wmv extension.

Anyway, I thought it was a drm issue and tried getting the 11.0.6 version of drm removal software mirkagi with fairuse4wm... but it doesn't appear to have a drm header to remove.

It's odd because when I try to view the mediasite stream via mac safari or firefox on tiger's side, I get video stream with no sound... and if I record on the mac side, I get video stream with no sound.

If you have any insight, I would love your help.

Thank you so much.

You can send a similar request to flip4mac and mplayer developers.

It seems like at the moment only video converter (http://all-streaming-media.com/convert-audio-video-files/) can help... It is a good idea to convert just audio and leave videos as is.

I have been playing with converting.

I converted everything on the windows side to .avi with avs converter and it works great on the mac side.

However, when I tried to convert on the mac side with visual hub 1.29 it did not work.

I hate to be a noob, but where would I submit these requests for the other players?

Every time I try to give a company feedback, I seem to go in a circle of contact us links which never get anywhere.

flip4mac bug reports
First of all make sure you have the latest version of flip4mac. The current version is is 2.1.3.10. Public Beta is 2.2.0.39 and is recommended for Leopard. Also make sure you have QuickTime version 7.0 or later (7.1.6 or higher recommended).

Questions about WMV can be asked in the support forum (http://forum.flip4mac.com/forum//categories.aspx?catid=9&entercat=y)

mplayer bug reports
Make sure you use the latest version of mplayer.

If you still have a problem then go to mplayer bug reporting guidelines (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html).

They must be forcing to buy Flip4Mac WMV Player Pro (http://store.eSellerate.net/a.asp?c=0_SKU08343986678_AFL1696104020), Flip4Mac WMV Studio Pro HD (http://store.eSellerate.net/a.asp?c=0_SKU35243986698_AFL1696104020), Flip4Mac WMV Studio (http://store.eSellerate.net/a.asp?c=0_SKU66161001630_AFL1696104020) or Flip4Mac WMV Studio Pro (http://store.eSellerate.net/a.asp?c=0_SKU19107650049_AFL1696104020)

However I don't think that free Flip4Mac WMV Player uses different technology than the above mentioned products.
