Why do you use Windows Media Center?

Because it allows:

To watch and record your favorite TV shows on your PC?
To search for a TV show by title, keyword, category, actor or director?
To view photos and videos, listen to your music library?
To use online features?

May be something else?

Cause the new version in Windows 7 is perfect, the preview is great, I use it with a plugin (Media Browser) which get automatically the information for my series and episodes frome TheTVDB and display them with the description ... and I have a DVB-T tuner (with a great preview of programms), it allows me to switch from the TV to my Series easily.

I do not use it to record any show cause it records them in a format I don't like. To record I use DV Scheduler.

I have the remote control, of course.

Media Portal is a free alternative to Windows Media Center. It only started supporting Windows 7. It can record video to formats you will probably like.

I know Media Portal, I don't like it, too many bugs, doesn't work with most of the DVB-T tuners ...
