Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm) can perfectly record RTMP .mp4 videos from CTV.ca:

It isn't working for me on ctv.ca.

I have web stream dumper checked but Replay Media Catcher is not detecting any video on the site. I'm using Firefox.

I tried with Internet Explorer, the only thing RMC detected was the advertisement that preceded the video.

I have tried again and had no any problem downloading rmtp mp4 video from cta.ca with Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm).

Web Stream Dumper only works with HTTP streams. Please make sure "Capture RTMP streams" is checked.

It is also important to start recording with Replay Media Catcher and then and only then open your web-browser and navigate to a web-page with your a video stream.

p.s. And that's smart of you to use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer.

I have that option checked and I started recording before going to actual page and it's still not working. I've used RMC dozens of times without issue. I don't know what the problem is.

It's not smart, it's just not dumb. IE is the McDonald's of browsers.

What version of RMC do you use? And what OS?

I can't record mp4 video with RMC v3.0.1 either. My OS is XP sp3 and browser is also Firefox 3.0.8.

RMC is no longer a viable capturing tool anymore as there is more and more popular stuff it can no longer get than what it can.

However, many things don't work using Firefox anymore too and now require constant tinkering with to accommodate. Perhaps you should try using a different browser.

I opened a ticket and the 'solution' was to upgrade which I knew wouldn't work and guess what? It didn't.

As stated in my first post, I had tried with IE already. Since then, I've tried other browsers.... only the ads were recorded.

I like Firefox and most of what I need I've been able to record using one or two tools but ctv is a nuissance.

Please post or PM me the URL and I will take a look at it.

And please send me the screenshot of the settings so that I can make sure that the "Capture RTMP streams" option is checked.

The URL is not picked up for the stream, right? Or do you have some error while trying to record?

I've been using the internet for 15 years and computers for longer than that so I know how to check an option. I won't post a screen shot.

As for the URL, it's not a specific one from the site. I cannot download any video from this site.

http://watch.ctv.ca/

I don't get an error, nothing is detected my RMC except in Opera and IE but only the advertisements preceding the video are detected.

As I said previously, RMC isn't worth much anymore. Actually Applian should immediately start releasing it as freeware.

If you want TV Shows from CTV I suggest you start downloading available torrents or find one of the many excellent forums where links to these shows are made available on Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc.

When Stream Recorder wastes his time trying to help you, perhaps you should honor his requests. In doing so you might just learn something. Error messages when trying to record can be found by right-clicking on the file in question within the RMC window ... then click on "properties" and read what it says.

It's very easy to download CTV shows because most are American and thus simulcast. Original CTV content is more difficult to acquire.

If you'd actually read my post, you would notice that nothing was downloaded so your 'advice' isn't applicable because there is nothing in the download window. Should I right-click nothing?

I did forget to thank him for his help. Thank you. However, I won't honor a silly request nor should anyone. And the request to post a screen shot was beyond silly.

I'm sorry for that, but most questions come from total newbies and I don't really know any other way to make sure that the option is checked.

If you go to Help -> About what kind of version of plugin_zrtmp.dll do you see? Is it 5.3.6.9?

This is really weird because when I play the stream in Firefox, it is detected. And I see that this is an RTMP .MP4 video. There should be no any problem recording it.

There are youtube downloaders that cost $30 and people still buy them. If Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm) becomes freeware, who will be paying to the developers, support staff? We already have freeware Orbit Downloader (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Download-manager-Orbit-Downloader-Record-HTTP-MMS-RTSP-RTMP-media-streams-Freeware.htm), that can hardly download any RTMP stream.

I used URL Snooper (http://all-streaming-media.com/find-stream-URL/Project-URL-Snooper-Find-the-actual-stream-URL-Free-download.htm) to get some clips from http://watch.ctv.ca/the-bold-and-the-beautiful/#clip231910

This is what I got but I have no clue how to download them.

Try to go to a flash video site within IE and play a video. Make it a different site than you last visted within GetFLV (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/GetFLV-Download-and-convert-flash-video-streaming.htm).
I think there may be some confusion. I can't download within GetFLV (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/GetFLV-Download-and-convert-flash-video-streaming.htm) but the videos play just fine within GetFLV and in Internet Explorer. I can see the rtmp links show up for the actual content and not just commercials. I click on download and it appears in the download section but nothing happens.

I wish there was a way to use the rtmp code to extract the URL and then use another program to download it. I went on CTV and got this from GetFLV.
