SmoothDRM (http://smoothdrm.com/) is a Microsoft media product using Microsoft Silverlight.
On that page there are data sheets etc (PDF downloads), and several Press Releases about the system.
This Press Release (http://www.nfagroup.com/pr_ABCAU2010.html) from April 2010 says ABC Australia bought a SmoothDRM license / system.
Question: is this a supplement to iView? I would think so. That is, it's not likely to be a replacement for iView "catch up".
Silverlight and IIS Streaming allows smooth streaming for client PCs and internet connections of variable qualities or abilities, without drop-outs, etc. It's available for Mac as well as PC, but I'm not sure about Linux systems.
SmoothDRM, as the DRM part suggests, is encrypted or has Digital Rights Management.
