Hey guys...
Trying to use RTMPdump (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/rtmpdump-freeware-console-RTMP-downloading-application.htm) to rip from RTE.ie site, but no luck... Any ideas what my problems might be?
Here is my input into RTMPdump:

You can also try GUI RTMPE recorders like StreamTransport (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/StreamTransport-Download-HTTP-RTMP-RTMPE-streams.htm), CooJah (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Blader-freeware-RTMP-downloader.htm)
Use the -V (verbose) flag to see what the error was.

When I try that I only get like 2% of the file, do you have any idea why? Also neither rtmpsrv nor rtmpsuck work, even after I edit the hosts file to include fmsod.rte.ie

I find rtmpsrv to be a bit tempermental. Try running a packet capture program at the same time. I know it sounds silly but i think the extra processing time slows the traffic down enough for rtmpsrv to see the packet it needs to.

Hi,
I was hoping someone could help .. I have tried the rtmpdump method for this page: http://www.rte.ie/player/#v=1099474 and it has retrieved the first 14 minutes of video.
How do i get the rest of the rtmpe paths?
Thanks.
If someone would just like to post them, that would be great too :-)

This is @KSV:
I was just wondering how you got the four parts of the rtmpe paths above.
I download from the RTE Player too, but I've had to watch the full video to get the last three parts of the video file, using URL Snooper 2.
Is there a way to find all the paths immediately, or is watching the entire video the only way?
Many thanks,
Jim
you can seek forward in the player and it will load next parts or you can use wireshark or any other monitoring tool to grab the xml file.

I've been trying to download the latest Love/Hate episode but no joy with rtmpdump.
I used URLSnooper to get the address of the stream but when I try to paste
"C:\temp\rtmpdump.exe" -r "rtmpe://fmsod.rte.ie/rtevod/mp4:/2011/1211/20111211rte1a_20111211_212846_part1_lovehate_serie s_2_ye_001721.mp4" -o "c:\temp\video.mp4"
cmd says that "C:\temp\rtmpdump.exe" is not recognised as an internal or external command operable program or batch file.
What should I do?
All help is really appreciated! :)

ok see page 2 of this thread and posts 12 and 13,mine done the same,it completed after just 18 minutes so that would be part 1 and so on,the whole programme is 55 minutes long, also someone said in this thread

OK, I understand right now!!
You have to find .xml playlist file or rtmpe urls with "url sniffer" (like Coojah)!!
Or rtmpexplorer + rtmpsuck: When you open rtmpexplorer, close rtmpsrv window and open rtmpsuck instead!! Then load the page and when video played, seek forward in the player and it will load next parts, rtmpsuck will get other stream url!!

Ok, I have rtmpdump working (I think) in Mac OS but it doesn't seem to like the url I give it - "rtmpe://fmsv2.rte.ie/rtevodmp4:/2012/0430/20120430rte2a_20120430_190020_part1_mns__12_______ _______002258.mp4"
I got this from Wireshark - but this doesn't seem to be parsed the way the other examples in this thread are. Is there any way I can get the required information from Wireshark?
Unfortunately rtmpsuck doesn't really work with Mac OS (it causes the computer to hang) and I'm getting an "ERROR: serverThread: accept failed" error with rtmpsrv. So, I can't seem to get an rtmpsrv command.
I'm trying to access this: http://www.rte.ie/player/#!v=1147382

Hi
This is an RTMPDump command:-
rtmpdump -r "rtmpe://fmsv2.rte.ie/rtevod/" -a "rtevod/" -f "LNX 10,1,102,64" -W "http://www.rte.ie/player/assets/player_458.swf?shareBtn=0" -p "http://www.rte.ie/player/#!v=1146999" -y "mp4:/2012/0427/20120427rte1a_20120427_213655_part1_late_late_show __12___003110.mp4" -o 20120427rte1a_20120427_213655_part1_late_late_show __12___003110.flv
It will probably be OK with Windows.
There's an exclamation mark in the command. :(
With linux it gives error:- bash: !v=1146999": event not found
So with linux bash it needs to be escaped like this:-
@ubuntu:~$ rtmpdump -r "rtmpe://fmsv2.rte.ie/rtevod/" -a "rtevod/" -f "LNX 10,1,102,64" -W "http://www.rte.ie/player/assets/player_458.swf?shareBtn=0" -p "http://www.rte.ie/player/#\!v=1146999" -y "mp4:/2012/0427/20120427rte1a_20120427_213655_part1_late_late_show __12___003110.mp4" -o 20120427rte1a_20120427_213655_part1_late_late_show __12___003110.flv

How are you guys sniffing the RTMPE data? I can't find anything other than AdobeHDS links
RtmpDumpHelper isn't finding it, nor will RtmpSrv/RtmpSuck in Linux (Ubuntu)
I'm guessing it defaults to HDS and only falls back on RTMPE if thats not possible for some reason... any ideas how to force RTMPE stream instead so RtmpSrv can grab it?

Hey guys, i'm totally new to RTMP, and i'm trying to learn how to rip streams from RTE.
Although I'm still trying to figure out how to use this cmd prompt, unfortunately I haven't got that far yet. My problem is that I cant find the rtmpe link in URL Snooper, even after i sniff network and even after I start playing the rte video in my browser (firefox if that makes a difference).
Is there something I need to do inside my rtmpdump folder before I start URL Snooper?
I've also tried Tubedigger but that only rips the adverts that come before the stream.
Thanks for any suggestions :)

My problem is that I cant find the rtmpe link in URL Snooper
None of us can trigger the RTMPE stream (well chap can, somehow). All that the rest of us can find is Adobe HDS links (Keyword Filter for seg1-frag1, f4m, etc in URL Snooper.) But it's protected with Adobe Flash Access DRM.
Is there something I need to do inside my rtmpdump folder before I start URL Snooper?
Yes, put RtmpDumpHelper in there and use that instead. US is not very reliable at detecting Rtmp(e) streams

I don't suppose somebody could offer some assistance with this video (http://www.rte.ie/player/ie/show/10068973/)? It'd be much appreciated! Also, it would be great if chap could post his method for accessing the RTMPE stream, since that would allow the thread to essentially help itself. :)

I managed to download the source file. Apparently, this forum has a time limit on the ability to edit one's posts, so excuse the double post. Here's what I did:
- Used VideoCacheView to make note of the file. In my case: 20121025_rteone-movietalk_cl10068973_10068976_260__512k.mp4 (VCV affixed a [1] at the end. Not sure why.)
- Used URL Snooper to make note of the Flash player file URL. In my case: http://www.rte.ie/static/player/swf/osmf2_2012_10_19.swf
- Used this information to put together a valid command line for RTMPDump. Make note of how the following is constructed:
rtmpdump -r "rtmpe://fmsod.rte.ie:1935/rtevod" -a "rtevod" -W "http://www.rte.ie/static/player/swf/osmf2_2012_10_19.swf" -y "mp4:/2012/1025/20121025_rteone-movietalk_cl10068973_10068976_260_/20121025_rteone-movietalk_cl10068973_10068976_260__512k.mp4" -o "MovieTalk.flv"
Basically, you want:
rtmpdump -r "rtmpe://fmsod.rte.ie:1935/rtevod" -a "rtevod" -W "<flash player file URL>" -y "mp4:/<file year>/<file month and day>/<file name, minus _bitrate.mp4>/<file name>" -o "<desired file name>"
Hope this helps. :)

Yes, put RtmpDumpHelper in there and use that instead. US is not very reliable at detecting Rtmp(e) streams
Ok I'll give that a go.
Basically, you want:
rtmpdump -r "rtmpe://fmsod.rte.ie:1935/rtevod" -a "rtevod" -W "<flash player file URL>" -y "mp4:/<file year>/<file month and day>/<file name, minus _bitrate.mp4>/<file name>" -o "<desired file name>"
Hope this helps. :)
So you just simply copy and paste that code into the rtmpdump cmd prompt?

Yeah, once you've substituted the mentioned fields with the appropriate data, pasting it into the command prompt should work just fine.

Open a command prompt window in Windows, navigate to the folder with RTMPdump in it ("cd c:\yourfolder\") or open Terminal/Konsole in Linux. Or open Notepad and paste it into then save as a ms-dos batch file (with .bat extenstion, Notepad > File >Save As > YourFile.bat > Save As > Type - All Files "*" > place in RTMPdump folder, double click batch file to launch it. Or create a bash script and make it executable in Linux.
Using the Windows command prompt is one of the most basic things you can do with a computer, if you're still clueless you really need read up on it there are plenty of good guides on the 'net.

Hi guys,
I once ripped a video from RTe.ie with rtmpedump but that was some time ago... I just wanted to grab another one today but I got a problem. The player gives me an error (UNCAUGHT) Error #1502 or (UNCAUGHT) Error #2202. I even can't check whether I would be able to rip it.
Here is the video:

Any help would be very very appreciated. I really need it, please!

It might be easier do it this way instead of using VideoCacheView:
Start URL snooper (or web developer console in FF), keyword filter swf;hds, open browser and start video playing -
http://i48.tinypic.com/2m2hvzt.jpg
Use the swf URL listed and grab one of the HDS URL's as in the picture and you get these two URL's:
http://www.rte.ie/static/player/swf/osmf2_2012_10_19.swf
http://vod.hds.rasset.ie/hds-vod/2012/1101/adaptive/20121101_rtetwo-thecraigdo_cl10070311_10070321_260_/20121101_rtetwo-thecraigdo_cl10070311_10070321_260__1024k.mp4Seg1-Frag18
Delete the HDS related stuff bolded above and you're left with this: (512k is the only bitrate available for RTMPE stream) -
2012/1101/20121101_rtetwo-thecraigdo_cl10070311_10070321_260_/20121101_rtetwo-thecraigdo_cl10070311_10070321_260__512k.mp4
put that together with the SWF url into our RTMPdump command line and we're left with:
rtmpdump -r "rtmpe://fmsod.rte.ie:1935/rtevod" -a "rtevod" -W "http://www.rte.ie/static/player/swf/osmf2_2012_10_19.swf" -y "mp4:/2012/1101/20121101_rtetwo-thecraigdo_cl10070311_10070321_260_/20121101_rtetwo-thecraigdo_cl10070311_10070321_260__512k.mp4" -o "thecraigdoyleshow.flv"
to download our file.

Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this one! I never usually ask for favours like this but I'm out of my depth here!
I'm trying to rip the Ireland v Greece game highlights from the rte site. It was never put up on the rte player, I guess cos Sky own the rights. However I managed to sniff and record the second part of it via the watch and listen section of the rte sports site with another piece of software but I can't seem to get the first. This is the url of the one I managed to sniff and record
rtmpe://fmsod.rte.ie:1935/rtevod/mp4:/2012/1114/20121114rte2a_20121114_224207_part2_international_ soccer_ih000278820_003618.mp4
I'm guessing that the first part might be sniffed by replacing the part2 with part1 like this
rtmpe://fmsod.rte.ie:1935/rtevod/mp4:/2012/1114/20121114rte2a_20121114_224207_part2_international_ soccer_ih000278820_003618.mp4
I tried using the rtmp dump but to no avail :(
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could rip this! Loads of us at YBIG missed the game and can't find any sort of decent highlights of it never mind the full game. In return I would happily record anything off of BBC iplayer in HD and upload it for ya via rapidshare regardless of file size ;)

http://www.rte.ie/player/ie/show/10106046/
first off use the xl player
http://www.rte.ie/playerxl/#v=10106046
then go here
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/RTMPExplorer/old-versions#download
hit on this ''Download (direct link)'' on the right
when downloaded drop the zip into a folder then extract in folder, you will see another folder ''rtmpexplorer'' go into it,double click on the ''rtmpExplorer applicant'' you will see 2 windows,1 black 1 white, enter the url http://www.rte.ie/playerxl/#v=10106046 into the white one then press Go
Click on the play and wait for the adds to go and your programme will start to download into the same folder as ''rtmpExplorer'' is
hope that helps

johnny, that worked a treat ... except ... it downloaded the segment up to the first ad break and then stopped. I presume there's another stream for the second part, but the rtmp explorer app gives no way to find it that I can see.

I know this is an old thread so hope it's being watched by those in the know...
I just spent the most frustrating half-day of my 25 years with computers, first grabbing, downloading and installing a multitude of suggested apps to grab one little 2:44 RTE video with zero success - then the rest of the day removing all the adware and junk that those apps installed on my machine. I could weep, I think I should go get my blood pressure checked, etc etc. :(
Bottom line: if anyone knows how to do it, and can upload it to a sharing service or something along those lines, I would be so very grateful. It is a clip of the band Kíla busking in 1988: http://www.rte.ie/archives/exhibitions/1664-traditional-music/370262-kila-at-slogadh-1988/. As a last resort I used Debut to screen capture it, but the quality is nothing short of terrible - very jumpy and with really awful audio, I probably need a better video card, but for 2:44 of old video? Not an option.
Hope someone will take sympathy and either describe a working solution or just grab it for me.
best,
Mike.

I have read some similar questions earlier in the thread, but the solutions haven't quite translated to this problem. Structure of links, etc. are slightly different.
Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks.
Here's everything I have so far:

JeanBaptist, You can use youtube-dl or ffmpeg.
ffmpeg -i "https://vodhls.rasset.ie/manifest/audio/2016/1022/20161022_rte2fm-davefanningshow-davefannin_cl10636470_10639564_261_/20161022_rte2fm-davefanningshow-davefannin_cl10636470_10639564_261_.mp4.m3u8" -c copy 20161022_rte2fm-davefanningshow-davefannin_cl10636470_10639564_261_.ts
You also can use rtmpdump with your link.

Thank you kindly, Sir. That has worked a treat. :)
How did you know to add these parts, experience? I scanned for .m3u8 files and couldn't find a thing.

Ok, dude. Suit yourself. I'm asking you to share, and it's clear you'd rather not. You could just be straight about it.

I did share all the info I had, and all you've given me is grief about it.
The info should work with any other audio file, but for some reason you also want to know the ultimate foundation of the information. I don't know the ultimate foundation of the information!!!!!!!!!!
I only suspect it came from a kodi add-on coder who looked at the app. Search the hls domain name and you'll find references in kodi sources.
What I do know (now) is not to respond with useful information unless I can recursively trace back its origins to the genesis story. Never mind that it works. I must also know how and why and from where.
